people have glasses because they can't see. usually genetics and lifestyle contribute to eye problems. If you are so concerned with wearing glasses then try contacts.

Unfortunately, there is not much you can do to prevent having to wear glasses. Most of the time it is a genetic trait; so if you wind up having to wear glasses it isn't anything you did wrong; it is most likely due to some bum genes inherited from your parents/ancestors! Some people claim that such things as reading in the dark, sitting too close to the TV, putting on other people's glasses etc, will damage your vision and cause you to have to wear glasses; I don't believe any of this crap!
The best you can do to keep your eyes healthy is eat a decent, balanced diet (no need to go hog-wild eating carrots) wear protective eye wear for those jobs and sports where injury is likely, and make certian you get your eyes checked periodically, so if problems do develop, it can be caught early when it is easier to treat it.
In a worst case scenerio, if you do wind up having to get glasses, you can always blame it on your parents; its most likely their genes that are responsible! A lot of people look great with glasses; you just have to pick a frame that goes with your face so you don't look too geeky. If you really, really hate glasses, you could get contacts, but I would try glasses first, they are so much less hassle than contacts.

Whether or not you need glasses has a lot to do with the shape of your eyes and what's inside them. Glasses can correct the problem of not being able to see well at a distance in many cases. Some people have eye strain or don't have the ability to see up close.Eat your carrots.

Its all genetics and some life style choices. You don't always have to get glasses (just depends on your type of eye problems) Contacts are readily available also. I have astigmastism, which does not allow me to have contacts, but I don't mind glasses. If you get a really rockin' pair you might even grow to love them!

I say it is genetics. My uncle (from my mom's side of the family) wears glasses. However, none of my family members from my dad's side wears any. Somehow when I was born, my mom's genes got me to waring glasses. I have been wearing glasses since I was 8. So, if none of your family members wear glasses, chances are the older you get, you most likely will. Go get contacts if you are afraid of putting a pair of glasses on.

I'd like to tell you that it is because pickles, like tomatoes react with certain metals, but that's not true. Plus it wouldn't explain the plastic jar question. I believe and have found no proof otherwise that it is simply because Heinz began selling jarred pickles in glass jars instead of earthenware pots like was previously done, because his competitors were adding things to the ingredients that were not altogether what you'd want in your pickles. Heinz could prove his ingredients were natural if they were showcased in glass jars. Other companies followed suit.
