What does the state have to do with anything? I hated Bill Clinton, but I would still vote for a candidate from Arkansas. I would actually vote for Mike Huckabee.

It depends. Not all politicians from Texas agree on everything. In fact, their political views can differ radically from one another. Ron Paul is a good example.

Why not? They represent and respect the views of most Americans far better than most politicians from the east and west coasts. Seem to have a far higher level of morality too.
