OK, I work out five times a week M-F and sometimes on the weekends. This is my routine:

Monday/Wednesday/Friday:

Elliptical: 3.5-5 mph, heart rate between 140-170, for 40 minutes.
Weights for 10-15 minutes

Tuesday/Thursday:

Stationary bike: 40 minutes, level 5, heart rate 115-130
Weights for 10-15 minutes

I'm going to change it up soon by doing every week day with the elliptical and weights, because my heart rate is a bit slower while on the stationary bike (even though I am at the "target heart rate" that the machines say I need to be at). I figure I'll do the elliptical for a while until I reach a plateau then change it up with changing the cardio machines.

Now, the machines say my target heart rate is between 117-123, but I just don't feel like I've worked out or sweated enough. Which is why I'm going to have my heart rate between 140-170.

Here are my stats:

Age: 33
Sex: Female
Weight: 180 (lost two pounds between 9/1 and 9/13 YAY)
Target weight: 140ish.

Height: 5 foot 1 inch.

I'm also cutting out sodas, drinking more water, looking at the nutrition panel more and putting back on the shelf things with a lot of cholesterol/fat/sodium/calories.

Thanks all... I know not to rely on the machines calculations (which is why I'm setting my heart rate to 140-170 instead of 117-123).

I sweat my butt off on the elliptical, my shirts and shorts and other things ;) are soaked with sweat (they feel like they were just taken out of the washer when it got done washing).

I feel it more on the elliptical than I do on the bike, which is also why I'm going to do the elliptical more often.

I also wish I could just do weights, but cardio wakes me up and makes me feel better.

Sounds good. After you cut out sodas, you should cut out all junk foods. Especially those that contain salt or sugar. Salt tends to clog up the kidneys and colon, sugars, extra sugars tend to clog the arteries, the colon and over time destroy the liver. Eat more fresh vegetables raw in salads, stir-fried with tofu in extra virgin olive oil or steamed to bring out natural flavor. Eat more fresh fruits for snacks or desserts. Drink organic fruit juices. Drink 6 to 8 bottles of pure water. By only walking two miles every day I lost thirty pounds in thirty days and a lot of the 'flab' turned into toned muscle. I have been doing this routine for 13 years now and have never been healthier. I am 60 years old. Also, cut out as much red meats and pork as possible. Red meats tend to clog up your colon too. Maybe once a month until you reach your desired weight and heart rate, go to an herb store and get a good all natural colon cleanse and use it. You will not believe how relieved your system will be to clean out unwanted wastes that have built up over the years without you even knowing it.

It's great that you're doing so much cardio! Cardio is personally my least favorite! I'd lift weights all day if I could :-)

The important thing to remember though is that while it's awesome to be doing so much cardio, if you were hitting your target heart rate, the rate at which you begin to burn fat, you would be feeling more of a workout. If you are getting to the point where your breathing is rapid and you can really feel the workout in your chest, then you are getting a better cardio workout.

In my experiences working out, only a few years, I found that the elliptical machine just wasn't challenging enough unless I had it at a high level, around 10-11 (But everyone is different)

I would say to try increasing the levels you do on these machines and don't just rely on what the machines say. Everyone is different and the machines are programmed to calculate those numbers for a wide range of people, so it's never going to be spot on. One cardio machine you should try is the stair stepper, if your gym has one. Even if you do it for 10 minutes, for some reason it works me out well each time!

I think you are doing too much cardio and not enough weight training. You might think about doing 30 to 45 minutes of weight training 3 days a week and 30 to 45 minutes of cardio 3 days a week. Maybe alternate the days do weight training every other day. If you workout at a gym, does your gym offer spin classes? Spin classes are a great and fun way to do get your cardio workout. Also, your eating habits will play a big role in your weight loss. I see people who go to the gym almost every day and they never make progress or they actually gain weight just because they don't eat properly.

i love to paintings on my middle and higher frame given that i consider like i've extra balance, while i paintings on my cut back my legs shake an excessive amount of and that i lose stability simply, that's in general considering that i've a foul knee on one leg and my ankle at the different has been damaged two times. I exercise as soon as an afternoon (three units of every exercise) I transfer among curls, tricep presses, pushups, lat pull downs and shoulder shrugs in the future and situps, lunges, squats and cleans yet another day. i attempt to get in a two-three mile run both at the treadmill or external no less than four instances per week if i cant daily motivation is the most important challenge for me
