Someone I know is a Jehovah's Witness and she tells me we are "Living in the last days". I asked her when, but she replies with "soon" and will not tell me anymore unless she teaches me the religion first.

Is there a certain date that Jehovah's Witness believe the world will end?

Thanks in advance!

No, no. I'm not losing sleep, I just want to know what they believe and don't want to have to learn the religion in order to find out.

Not a JW, but I don't think that they have a specific date when they "know" the world will end. Have a star, though . . . . hopefully one will be along shortly with a better answer to your question.

Debbie responded your questions nicely. i'm unsure with regard to the anointed- no remember if some will nevertheless be alive. In a manner it make experience while debbie stated they might desire to die first, yet might that be from 'organic' motives (becoming older), quite than leaving their earthly existence while armageedon happens? We do be attentive to that before the tip all the anointed might desire to be 'sealed' that they might desire to have proved their faithfullness to the tip. The anointed have been chosen from 33ce onwards while the holy spirit grew to become into despatched to the apostles and others in attendance at Pentecost. a good number of the anointed have been interior the beginning up of the time while Jehovah's (bible pupils in those days) witnesses began their paintings. by utilising 1935, a much greater significant share have been of the 'great crowd' and so had the earthly desire.

no specifical date but several thing like for example the kind of people that are living in this time are exactly as 2 Timothy 3:1-5 says also the fall of all false religions that we just have to see CNN and newspaper, etc

1914 began the period called the last days (There is a Prophecy in the book of Daniel that explain why) that is why in the last centuries (XX) died 12 times more people in wars (100 millions) than in XIX century (12 millions), also how everything had a dramatical changes in all the fields of this world in that date, everybody can testify that not only JWs, but many people, this "system" ruled by Satan (1 John 5:19) will be terminated and Jesus will substitute Satan as the ruler of the earth (Revelation 5:10). and Jesus will do God´s will in earth (Matthew 6:9) the original purpose of God (Genesis 1:27-28) perfect humans living in great conditions without sin and death.

by the way PRIMOA if you read the bible in Matthew 24:3-14 you will see that Jesus have to "come" or "be present" for begins the great tribulation that finish with Armageddon, so if we are in the great tribulation then the first step happened, and you believe that but even realize it cause everytime people say that we are in the last days recognize that fact.

Jesus said in Matthew 24th chapter, the things that would go on to mark that time of the end. He went on to say no one, not even himself, knew exactly when it would be. Only his Father knew the hour and would tell him when the exact hour to start.

So we don't know. We guess from observing world conditions it will be soon. Where messes happen, is where men of good conscience see the world and just can't believe things could not get any worse. They do.

What should people do? In Noah's time, they just laughed and ridiculed Noah until the raindrops started falling. Suddenly, they could not wait to get into that ark with old friend Noah, best buddy. The door was sealed. Wave bye bye.

To our benefit, we can learn from their mistakes. We can find out and take action required to obey what God wishes us to do. Following Israel's example, as long as they were faithful, Jehovah protected His people; but unfaithful, they suffered. So better to do something now than wait for the door to be shut.

I agree that since the resurrection of Christ, we have been living in the end times or the last days.

But no one knows the day or the hour of Christ's return.

The JWs missed it a couple of times (1914 comes to mind)

--"NO DAY OR HOUR" known , BUT we do know that we are in a marked time that will never turn around!

--JESUS POWERFUL statement to his disciples after they asked him, the following questions is of great importance:

(Matthew 24:3) “. . .While he was sitting upon the Mount of Olives, the disciples approached him privately, saying: “Tell us, When will these things be, and what will be the sign of your presence and of the conclusion of the system of things?””

--3 THINGS WERE ASKED:
1. When would the temple be destroyed!
2. When would his invisible presence be known"
3. When would God destroy this wicked system of things"

--JESUS THEN gave his answer in that his invisible "presence" (parousia) would be evident by these starling events along with entering what you referred as the "LAST DAYS"

(Matthew 24:7-8) “7 “For nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be food shortages and earthquakes in one place after another. 8 All these things are a beginning of pangs of distress.....12 and because of the increasing of lawlessness the love of the greater number will cool off. "

--WHEN HE SAID "all these were a BEGINNING of pangs of distress", HE WAS referring to a woman in her pregnancy and her knowing WITHOUT QUESTION she was about to give birth!

--THUS JWS believe and can back up their understanding of Jesus words to have begun the last days period IN 1914--which can be compared to when Noah started to build the ark and preaching to the people of the eminent destruction by Jehovah God!

--HERE IS WHAT the world and its well known commentators have said about what happened in 1914 , as THE MOST UNUSUAL time in history and a magazines comment on what we foretold as to Jesus words applying from that day on:

*** ce chap. 18 pp. 227-229 The Bible—Is It Really Inspired by God? ***

1914—The Turning Point in History

30 From the human standpoint, the world troubles and global wars foretold in the Bible were far from the thinking of the pre-1914 world. German statesman Konrad Adenauer said: “Thoughts and pictures come to my mind, . . . thoughts from the years before 1914 when there was real peace, quiet and security on this earth—a time when we didn’t know fear. . . . Security and quiet have disappeared from the lives of men since 1914.”25 People living before 1914 thought that the future “would get better and better,” reported British statesman Harold Macmillan.26 The book 1913: America Between Two Worlds notes: “Secretary of State Bryan said [in 1913] that ‘conditions promising world peace were never more favorable than now.’”27

31 So, right up to the very brink of World War I, world leaders were forecasting an age of social progress and enlightenment. But the Bible had foretold the opposite—that the unprecedented war of 1914 to 1918 would highlight the beginning of “the last days.” (2 Timothy 3:1) The Bible also provided chronological evidence that 1914 would mark the birth of God’s heavenly Kingdom, to be followed by unprecedented world trouble.28 But was anyone living back then aware that 1914 would be such a turning point in history?

32 Decades before that date, there was an organization of people who were making known the significance of 1914. The New York World of August 30, 1914, explains: “The terrific war outbreak in Europe has fulfilled an extraordinary prophecy. For a quarter of a century past, through preachers and through press, the ‘International Bible Students’ [Jehovah’s Witnesses] . . . have been proclaiming to the world that the Day of Wrath prophesied in the Bible would dawn in 1914. ‘Look out for 1914!’ has been the cry of the . . . evangelists.”29

****PLEASE ALSO note how commentators in our time have shown that things have not improved BUT continue to esculate drastically from 1914 :

1914—A TURNING POINT IN HISTORY

Even after a second world war, many refer back to 1914 as the great turning point in modern history:

“It is indeed the year 1914 rather than that of Hiroshima which marks the turning point in our time.”—René Albrecht-Carrié, The Scientific Monthly, July 1951.

“Ever since 1914, everybody conscious of trends in the world has been deeply troubled by what has seemed like a fated and predetermined march toward ever greater disaster. Many serious people have come to feel that nothing can be done to avert the plunge towards ruin. They see the human race, like the hero of a Greek tragedy, driven on by angry gods and no longer the master of fate.”—Bertrand Russell, The New York Times Magazine, September 27, 1953.

“The modern era . . . began in 1914, and no one knows when or how it will end. . . . It could end in mass annihilation.”—The Seattle Times, January 1, 1959.

“In the year 1914 the world, as it was known and accepted then, came to an end.”—James Cameron, 1914, published in 1959.

“The whole world really blew up about World War I and we still don’t know why. . . . Utopia was in sight. There was peace and prosperity. Then everything blew up. We’ve been in a state of suspended animation ever since.”—Dr. Walker Percy, American Medical News, November 21, 1977.

“In 1914 the world lost a coherence which it has not managed to recapture since. . . . This has been a time of extraordinary disorder and violence, both across national frontiers and within them.”—The Economist, London, August 4, 1979.

“Civilization entered on a cruel and perhaps terminal illness in 1914.”—Frank Peters, St. Louis Post-Dispatch, January 27, 1980.

“Everything would get better and better. This was the world I was born in. . . . Suddenly, unexpectedly, one morning in 1914 the whole thing came to an end.”—British statesman Harold Macmillan, The New York Times, November 23, 1980.

--SO WE believe implicitly that this took place in 1914:

(Revelation 12:7-10) “. . .And war broke out in heaven: Mi′cha·el and his angels battled with the dragon, and the dragon and its angels battled 8 but it did not prevail, neither was a place found for them any longer in heaven. 9 So down the great dragon was hurled, the original serpent, the one called Devil and Satan, who is misleading the entire inhabited earth; he was hurled down to the earth, and his angels were hurled down with him. 10 And I heard a loud voice in heaven say: “Now have come to pass the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ, because the accuser of our brothers has been hurled down, who accuses them day and night before our God......12 On this account be glad, YOU heavens and YOU who reside in them! Woe for the earth and for the sea, because the Devil has come down to YOU, having great anger, knowing he has a SHORT PERIOD OF TIME (my caps).”

--THUS we are living in "the last days"
