Short guest list. Buy a dress on ebay (1 size larger) so your dry cleaner can make the adjustments. Use silk flowers or just ribbons. Make your own favors and invitations. There are many mail order companies that supply all the stuff. Their ads are in the back of wedding magazines. Go to a bookstore with a magazine rack and write down the websites and numbers for these companies and order their catalog. Remember to get the invitations out early. Someone knows someone who is a good photographer or who has a great digital camera. As for music try and have a friend mix some CDs for you.
Perhaps someone will make their yard available or the local church can allow you to use some space for a small donation.
As for favors, keep them cheap. Candy with bags and ribbons custom printed via mail order should be just fine. Many companies provide candies that are personalized if you order within a good amount of time. M&Ms can be ordered online with a special message on them.
This is all I could brainstorm right now but I am sure there are many other ideas out there. Don't forget to do a search within yahoo answers for other questions like this one.
Congrats and good luck.

Have an intimate wedding. Have your inmediate family and close friends ONLY. 25 people tops.
Have a cake made on the grocery store. Walmart have some good looking wedding cakes.
Buy your dress off the rack or on ebay.
Have a maid of honor and a best man. No need for a huge wedding party, ring bearerer etc.
Have your wedding at a nice backyard or local park.
Have plastic ware and paper ware, no need to rent real china.
DYI invites from walmart or AC Moore. Printe them on your computer at home. Check the clearance aisle in walmart, sometimes they have wedding kits on sale there.
Have a one keg and a few boxes of wine. Toast with sparkling wine or cider, or eliminate alcohol all together to cut costs.
Have yoru reception on mid-morning or mid-afternoon so a full meal is not expected. Have finger foods available and light beverages.
DIY your won bouquet and boutoniers. It's not that complicated. Buy the flowers in walmart and buy some ribbon and pins. Voila.
Borrow the cake cutter and the toasting flutes. No need to buy them.
Cut the favors, no one ever cares for them anyway.
Have uncle Bob take the pictures. Play music from an iPod or CD player.
Good luck and congratulations

I would say make a list of must have's and stick to it.. If you must have flowers look at local florists and see if someone does floral from their home ! If so inquire about cost, set-up etc.. You may want to make your own table centerpieces etc.. However, think of your family/friends that are coming and bringing guests.. Please DO NOT skimp on food, drinks, cake etc.. Remember these people are here to celebrate you and your new union and should be treated as special as possible.. If it's NOT in your budget to provide alcohol then make sure the food is really, really good... I once went to a wedding that was HORRIBLE>. There was no bar which was fine, it was a punch/cookies reception.. Very, very poor taste. We ended up leaving early and going to a restaurant for dinner.. Cookies/punch don't cut it... So, think carefully about your budget.. I got my wedding dress from a resale shop... $1000 dress for $350 that inclued train/alterations.. I had my cake made by a professional baker at her home... $1000 cake made for $160... My florist is a friends mom.. We brought the containers and she supplied the flowers/delivery $80. We did spring for a nice hall/food... My husband worked for a bar so we bought liquer at cost from there and was able to return any unopened bottles... We also bought wine from local wineries (sp) in the area for $3.50 a bottle.... Beer from the local wholesale club and we returned any unopened boxes.... Just get creative and find what works for you.... If you have a Trader Joe's near you they have a good cheap wine called Charles Schwaub it's nickname is $2 buck chuck and it's good and perfect for a wedding reception they even give you a further discount if you buy it by the case ! So, ask friends/family for recommendations.. .Good luck

elope!!!!!!!
I did mine for $600. We had the wedding at a friends shooting range, used a preacher that we camp with, made the wedding party's clothes, and bought cakes and set them on wine glasses, and had a carry in for the food.
Pick a simple theme that doesn't require real expensive clothes, find a preacher that you like that works on a donation, have the wedding at a family or friends house or yard, and do a carry in for the food, or designate a family member or friend to take care of the food and shop at a restaurant supply store. Make cool aid and buy cheap pop. buy cheap silk flowers and wrap the stems with ribbon for the bouquets. they are pretty and in style. A western theme is easy, jeans and sundresses, or just go casual. Keep your invite list down, that keeps your cost down. The simpler that you keep things, the less stress, and the prettier it can be. The more you spend the more there is to look at, and the gaudier it can be.

The main money saver is to limit the number of guests (you can probably get away with twenty-five or so people). Also limit your attendants to one or two each. Choose inexpensive attire for your attendants, but ask them to pay for it themselves or split the cost with you. Unless you just have to have a flower girl and ring bearer, that can be another place to save money. Hold the wedding in someone's home or in a local park. You can borrow chairs from a church or have your guests stand during the cermony and sit at picnic tables in the park during your reception. Don't buy a dress online (you will probably get burned), but do check department stores and discount stores (T.J. Maxx and Hudson's sometimes get designer white or wedding gowns in which they sell for 70-80% off the original price). Tuxedo rentals are expensive, but if your fiance already has a nice suit, he could wear that. Otherwise, check around on e-bay and for sales in department stores. Walmart's bakery makes beautiful wedding cakes that are inexpensive. Serve cake and punch, nothing more. Your guests are not there for the food. Use a portable CD or cassette player for music. Try to use things you already have for decorations (a park eliminates the need altogether) flowers from a garden, candles you already have, etc.

I got married last year for about $2500-3000. Our budget was about $1000, but I went overboard on some things. We had our wedding at a family members home in their backyard (free). We rented tables and chairs (most expensive about 500). We bought all the food from Costco and put together our own platters and salads. We ordered the flowers from Safeway, and instead of them charging a crazy amount to put them together, I had a family friend, do the bouquests for us. Our cake was expensive, but I wanted that a specific way, so it was about 300. I bought my dress off craigslist used, for 250. The bridesmaid dresses were cute summer dresses I found at a department store on clearance for about 25 bucks. If you have a Michael's, or any craft store, you can make and print your own wedding invitations for about 20 bucks. Also, they have tons of cute little items for your tables to decorate, and also have the small little bubbles for the guests.
Its easy to keep your wedding cheap, if you shop around! Don't just buy the first thing that comes to mind. Hope that helps and good luck!!!

Do a private wedding, Either at a friends house or a local church. I spent probably less that 2000.00 dollars for mine, but that did include all the tux rentals, and rehersal dinner. I would suggest for rehersal dinner have finger foods, or fix Chili, or assign each member of the wedding a dish. It is their responsibility to help any way they can.
I did make my bridemaids pay for their dresses since they did get to keep them. David's Bridal usually had $99.00 dresses, but if you choose to go this way expect to go back a few times because the selection is not huge. I bought the dress of my dreams for $400.00 which I didnt think was too bad.
For bridemaids gifts, i went to the dollar tree and just got some body lotions and body wash. I allowed around five dollars for each.
As far as the bridemaids shoes, jewerly etc, I let them use whatever they had at home, as long as it was nothing too far fetched. And believe it or not, No one really noticed that they didnt match perfectly.
For the reception dinner, I put my family incharge of a dish. And my grandparents in charge of buying two liters of pop.
Luckily my aunt did my cake, But I think that WalMart does wedding cakes. But a little advice, Dont go to big, because alot of people dont eat the cake.
Good luck and Congrats

do the actual ceremony at the jp (justice of the peace) or at a local state park or park... get a sunday dress don't get a full out wedding dress unless you find one on the sales rack there at the store or also ebay, have a maid of honor (You need someone to stand up for you), if you want a bouquet get that on ebay...
For the reception, Do a picnic pot luck (everybody brings a covered dish), and BYOB bring your own booze, as for music, if anybody has a laptop get speakers and just have somebody there downloading music and playing it... or give them a list of the music before, make your own favors do a spoon dipped in chocolate OR a spoonful of kisses with a tag that says love and kisses love and kisses scott and kelly (or whatever your names are) are mr. and mrs. , or do kiss roses (these are difficult to make but look really cute). That should save you quite a bit of money. Good Luck and Congrats!!!!

Wear church clothes (pretty white dress or suit for you, suit for him). Have a cake and punch reception after the wedding. Buy a sheetcake from the local grocery store! Omit bridesmaids, maid of honor, etc. Have parents be witnesses. Get married at a local park or in your backyard. Have people bring their own lawn chairs. Have the wedding at 1, cake reception at 2 so that people know that you are not serving a meal. Skip fancy invitations and just buy "you're invited" cards from Wal*Mart. Skip the favors and printed napkins. Your bouquet can be fake flowers or just omit that, too!
Best wishes!

I am a wedding planner and the place that I work for does really cheap elopement packages. They are great and inexpensive. Email me for details! They are not less then $1000.00, but less then $2000.00 and include a ton of "gifts". They are worth it.
