I am Republican to the bone.....
I am a right-wing conservative Christian.....

But even I don't like some of the things that happen in my party.

I am a little torn as to whether or not 9/11 could have been avoided

As far as religious things go:
I lean towards a pre-tribulation rapture of the church.......but no one really knows the answer to end-times questions. There are 3 views in Christianity: Pre, mid & post trib rapture.
We all (Christians) ultimately end up in heaven.....it's just a question of how & when?

I'm a Christian. And I don't understand why some people are welcomed in spite of their sin and others are shunned because of their sin. The scripture so many quote about homosexuality also slams divorce, but as a divorced woman, my attendance is sought after by many churches. Homosexuals are pretty much treated as though they must go "straight" and then we'll talk. I don't get that.

Politically, I don't understand the whole "claim" different parties have on different groups. If you're a Republican, you have to be a rich, apathetic, prudish, racist, religious fanatic who hates the environment.

If you're a democrat, you have to be a Communist, pacifist, earth worshipping, athiest who believes the right to abortion is a shining example of humanity at its best.

This whole idea that you have to march lock-step with either political party is just ridiculous, and it's the narrow minded extremists on BOTH sides who are harming our country.

I don't consider myself a "moderate" in any way, I am a conservative Republican. But I don't think all Liberals and Democrats are equal to the devil.

To me, a fanatic or extremist is a person or group who puts such focus upon the mechanics or technicalities of an issue (religion, political, whatever) that they lose sight and ultimately operate in contradiction to the very ideals they claim to be upholding.

Abortion. I think it's sad to view a (potential) human being as just a hassle to get rid of. But, I also think that no child should have to come into the world when the first fact of their existence is that their own mother didn't want them--that's no kind of life to live, and they just might be better off not being born than to live a life of poverty, neglect, or resentment.

Also, racial profiling as it relates to middle easterners. How do we find a balance of human rights and safety? Do we sacrifice the rights of a few for the rights of the many, or does that mean we've violated the principles of our constitution all together?

Wow -- after reading the great responses posted here, I've come to realize that I'm either very shallow or extremely decisive.

At the moment, I am only torn over one issue: as a pacifist, I am against the use of physical force; yet, I learned today that "dozens" of Syrian and Iranian scientists were killed recently in a botched attempt to arm a Scud missle with a chemical weapon (news story here: http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?cid=1189411428847&pagename=JPost%2FJPArticle%2FShowFull ); that Iran has 600 missiles pointed at Israel (news story here: http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?cid=1189411419433&pagename=JPost/JPArticle/Printer ); and that Russia has promised the U.S. will have "serious problems" if we do anything about it.

I have no desire to be a neo-Neville Chamberlain, but I'd also like to live to see 80. What to do .... what to do ...

None Deke. God says "do not shed innocent blood." God says "man should not lay with man." God says "woman shall not lay with women." God says, "if man sheds blood by man shall his blood be shed."

The war in Iraq is correct because we have a very valid enemy who plans to take over the world. He's tried it before and he's raising his ugly head again. There is a song, "from the halls of Montezuma to the shores of TRIPOLI." It's a Marine's hymn. Tripoli is Latin "Tripolis", Arabic "Tarabulus, in full Tarabulus Ash-sham ("The Eastern Tripoli"), city and port, northwestern Lebanon. It lies on the Mediterranean coast at the mouth of the Abu 'Ali river, 40 miles north-northeast of Beirut. It has been under Persian control in past history. Today it is the capitol of Libya and in 1986 the USA made an airstrike on it for terrorism. Yes, 1986!

The political issues that I am very torn on are the ones that have torn this country and the world apart. These include the occupation in Iraq, the war that caused the occupation, being misled by the greatest deceiver in the history of our nation and being lied to almost daily by this leader. A close second would be the hypocrisy inherent in the republican party. Chuck Nagel said it best "They can forgive us for our lies, but not our hypocrisy"

Euthanasia for terminally ill/diseased if they so choose. Its incredibly hard for me to understand that God still has a plan for others in a vegetative state, that definately wouldn't of fathomed their lives being lived as this.

Abortions- I ultrasound pregnant women all the time, who kill their babies by other means. So I get to see a dying baby inutero, as their mom starves them from oxygen, drugs them to oblivion and drinks their way to miscarriage. Sometimes a miscarriage can seem more humane than watching a baby inutero die.

I'm a christian, I'm a medical professional and these bring up issues on both sides for me, and I have a hard time sticking to one side.

I am very attracted to socialism as an ideal, and I think it would be proper in a just society, but my study of economics leads me to believe it just won't work

so... I'm kind of caught just admitting to myself that although human beings should all care for one another, the more socialist a country gets, the more freedoms seem to be limited.. so i can't really support socialism
maybe i should be a libertarian.. i support most of their ideas, but sometimes I think they'd leave too many people who deserve help behind.

The war in Iraq. I was very much against it in the beginning, but now that we are there and have created a civil war, I truly believe that we have the responsibility to stay until they have a strong government and relative stability. I'm conflicted because I really want us out of there, but I think that would be very irresponsible.

Gay marriage. I think homosexuals have gone through a lot of persecution in history, and think they should have rights just like everyone else, but I still think what they do is immoral.

Another would be....the Trinity. While acknowledging the personage of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, I do not really think they are one being, but I do not believe in three Gods either. So I am a bit of a Biblical Unitarian, I believe in the Father, Son and Holy Spirit but not the Trinity.

I am torn on weather or not our Government could have prevented the attack on 9/11. I am torn on weather or not their is political foul play when it comes to who will win the election. Kerry was hand picked to run against Bush.( Edwards was far more popular) I have believed that from the start. Now Others are beginning to figure that out. I know that The 2000 and 2004 elections were fixed. How many more have been fixed? I am torn now as to if our votes will count. If they in Washington already know who they want in Office then why vote?
