I was at a bar drinking. When one of those "you might be if..." fellows stagered up. He was rubbing all over the waitress. He clearly had a wedding band on. He began to talk to me, in his slurred speak. I was polite, and we engaged in "bar talk" as always the talk turned to religion. I simple stated I did not believe in God. I did not even get a chance to explain my position when he said. What the (edit) are you one of those (edit) Atheist. That is (edit) un-American. Your gonna burn in (edit)
Now you can call this a rant but here is the question.
Do you think Jesus wants this kind of representation?
And before you say That's a small percent of "christians" or he was not a true "christian" read some of the posts on here and observe the world outside of your own.
Are you a good ambasador for your religion?

I have to be careful there are those who are out to get me. I think I am hitting home with at least someone. They love the violation button.

I try not to be judgmental towards others when it comes to religious beliefs.

I'd like to think that my actions make me a good ambassador and when I meet new people if the conversation leads to religion I will ask them if they have a home church and if not I ask them to visit my church. If they say the don't like church or aren't religious or whatever I just tell them that if they change their mind or are curious they'd be welcome. The hard sell/you're going to hell type of thing isn't going to make a person change their mind it will only drive them further away.

A drunk man often finds himself very "religious". He didn't preach Jesus and salvation to you. He was ranting about belief in God, not faith in Jesus. Those are two different things. You assume he was a Christian and you assume he was trying to evangelize you.

The man believed in God which does not obligate him to any particular behavior. Which is exactly how an atheist lives...amazing!!

Bill Hicks once said that if a true Christian is offended by something you say he is morally obliged to forgive you.

That could probably be me when I was a drinker twenty-five years ago.
I got so tired of waking up and realizing I had made a fool or myself again I just lost my taste for it and quit.
