ive only ever lied to my son because he is too young to understand, for example he asked me how the baby got into my tummy, well obviously I'm not going to go into details with a 3 year old so i said daddy gave me a seed ( a lie!). Ive always tried to tell him the truth if i know its not too confusing or too personal.

Yeah little white lies for blackmail! Who hasn't?!. And if i'm absolutely exhausted for whatever reason and I just can't be bothered to make playdough or bake that cake she desperately wants then I might say that I've run our of flour or something and do it later when I feel in a better frame of mind. We aren't super heros. If I just don't feel like doing something then I would rather tell her a lie then just say no I don't feel like it. I will make up for it later and do whats she's asked. Its not like I do it everyday but sometimes mum and dad have enough and need a break from being super parents. If someone says they've never lied (even white lies) they are lying themselves.

My wife and I are a some of those "horrible" parents that dont lie to our kids about anything and that includes Santa Claus, Easter Bunny, and the Tooth Fairy. We dont mind make-believe and pretend, but we will not perpetuate imagination as truth. Everything we say will be the truth regardless of the question, but it may not be the whole truth.

No lies. Kids will always remember you lied to them and that teaches them to lie to you. You can always bend the truth a little but you have to do it in a way that you can justify it to them and yourself. Better to be honest and straight with them. And you should be bothered.

It depends, the big things, definitely not, but if I want her to eat brekkie I will say that she will miss out on playschool if she doesn't hurry up when it isn't even on for another hour, lol. Mean I know but I have trouble getting her to eat much full stop.

Never because I "can't be bothered". The lies I tell my children are all part of elaborate schemes to keep them on the straight and narrow.

If you are "bothered" by your children you seriously need to rethink your life.

Its not worth telling children lies, they will find out one day and then ask why you lied to them, be truthful

No way. Kids are smart. They will catch you lying and then you lose their respect.
