Well, I'd say you most likely did something wrong in the first place to have to go to bed at 9 o'clock. You should figure out what that is, (you most likely already know), fix that problem to get back in your parent's good graces, and THEN worry about whatever show you are wanting to watch. Another thing, don't bother telling your parents that Joe Blow down the street's parents let him stay up till 10. Joe's parents aren't your parents, and this will only annoy them and you still won't be watching your show.

Ha! The good old days! Well I really don't know what thats like. Although, I would be glad you have parents that care about you. I grew up not having any really. Living from house to house. Sleeping under freeway bridges sometimes. Going to school and work. Don't let a half-hour ruin that.

It really hurt to look into a house with a beautiful family in it, eating dinner together, as I'm walking my bike down the empty cold dark streets not knowing where I'm going next....all by myself. I never thought I would ever have a family. I never thought I would live past 18.

You're lucky you've got caring parents that tell you to go to sleep at 9.

One day I'll have a family as great as yours.

Honey, your parents know what is best for you. They are adults and they know how sleep is necesary to recuperate the body. The body and the mind are beautiful tools and when used properly they can reveal you amazing secrets and help you in every way. But they are fragile and they must be taken care properly if you want them to serve you nicely. That is a fair contract between the master (you) and the servants. So, listen to your parents, if they think that something is harmful to your body, listen. Dont worry, time to stay awake will come. Someday you will be able to stay up all night! Without even asking. Well, I am an adult (37) it is not even so interesting any more. I would rather sleep in somebody's arms (smile)

Negotiate for 9:15 for one week and if you are able to stick to that without going over, then it should be 9:30 again. Try for that, and then after a month or so, try for 10. Good luck!

I have the feeling there is more to this story than you are lettling on. If you want to get extended bedtimes, you have to show the parents that you deserve them. My kids have bedtimes as well, on school nights of 10:00 because they have to be at school so early, plus with them playing sports believe me they are ready by then. Follow the rules and show your parents that you can abide by them, then ask again to extend your bedtime.

I think your parents have done the right thing by putting your bedtime back to 9pm. When you learn to spell correctly then they should allow you an extra 5 minutes a night until you reach your goal of 9.30pm.

Wow, really? By 15 I was saying up as late as I wanted, you know why? Because your parents can tell you to go to bed, they can even yell at you, but after that? You're making the rules.

they just want to make sure that you get your sleep. no big deal. they are your parents and what they say goes. only three more years....

besides it is their house their rules...
grow up and dont worry about what everyone else is doing, be grateful that you have stern parents.....some people have parents who do not force them to do anything and they therefore have no respect for rules or people in authority
