I always say one day I want to start a journal... If you feel the same way perhaps this is something to do. Write out Holiday cards early, plan your budget for the rest of the year, do things that you put on the back burner at home and use this time to get projects out of the way. You can also find an assortment of hand held games like poker or even a Nintendo ds with a library of games to help you pass the time. If you are into movies a portable DVD player is nice. have your company bring some of their DVDs with them when they come to visit and after they leave you can watch movies until the next visit. TV shows on DVD make time go by fast and you get to see the whole season with no commericals! Reading is another fool-proof way to while the hours. Hope these suggestions help and I hope you have a speedy recovery.

Talk to your nurse, see if they have any in house specials that they have for patients. I see alot of my patients have their laptops from home, magazines from family and some hospitals have book carts that come around with books on them that you can borrow. See if someone will buy you a cheap DVD player ($40 at Wal-Mart) that you can hook up to the tv in your room, keep the receipt and you can take it back when you're discharged!
Try crossword puzzles, do those silly magazine polls and keep you chin up-you'll be out before you know it!
Good luck, I hope things get better for you.

How about a Nintendo DS lite (Little hand held computer game console) to some of those brain excises. They are fun to do and stimulate your mind. You'll be a genius at the end of your hospital stay. Good luck and I hope your health improves now.

You have internet access?
That's going to go a long way. I never had a computer when I was in the hospital. I read a LOT and did crossword puzzles and stuff. I also wrote a lot of letters lol.

I was paralyzed with a spinal disease and in bed for sever weeks at first. I watched the entire O.J. trial from beginning to finish. Then I read books, paper backs. I averaged four a week.
I worked cross word puzzles, I read the newspaper, three of them a day.
You don't have to tell me it's hard.

Try reading some good books! Try Dean Koontz for great horror stories, John Grisham is another great writer. Sylvia Browne for more spiritual reading....but not "stuffy".
