#1: Why won't God heal amputees?

#2: Why are there so many starving people in our world?

Look out at our world and notice that millions of children are dying of starvation. It really is horrific. Why would God be worried about you getting a raise, while at the same time ignoring the prayers of these desperate, innocent little children? It really doesn't make any sense, does it? Why would a loving god do this?

#3: Why does God demand the death of so many innocent people in the Bible? Look up these verses:

- Exodus 35:2 – God demands that we kill everyone who works on the Sabbath day.
- Deuteronomy 21:18-21 – God demands that we kill disobedient teenagers.

- Leviticus 20:13 – God demands the death of homosexuals.

- Deuteronomy 22:13-21 – God demands that we kill girls who are not virgins when they marry.

1. Sometimes we are required to go through certain adversities in order to reach our full potential in the will of God. It may be possible that the struggles they go through by becoming an amputee will lead them to do things they otherwise could not have done.

2. Although I don't believe that the story of Adam and Eve is literally true, I honestly don't think we can live in a perfect world as long as we have free will. Someone will always be suffering and something will always go wrong. Answer number 1 also applies.

3. I explained this to you in your last question (regarding whether non-Christians should be put to death), so please take a moment to read it.

The Effects of the Law
It brings a curse (Gal. 3:10-12).
It brings death, it is a killer (2 Cor. 3:6-7; Rom. 7:9-10).
It brings condemnation (2 Cor. 3:9).
It makes offenses abound (Rom. 5:10; 7:7-13).
It declares all men guilty (Rom. 3:19).
It holds men in bondage to sin and death (Gal. 4:3-5, 9, 24; Rom. 7:10-14). This is because man in his sinful state can never fulfill the righteousness of the Law, especially in the spirit of the Law. He always falls short as Romans 3:23 tells us, and thus becomes condemned. The above features result, but only when man approaches it as a merit system.

The Purpose and Function of the Law
To provide a standard of righteousness (Deut. 4:8; Psalm 19:7-9).
To reveal God’s holiness and goodness (Deut. 4:8; Rom. 7:12-14).
To identify sin and reveal man’s sin and bankrupt condition (Rom. 19f; 7:7-8; 5:20; Gal. 3:19).
To shut man up to faith, i.e., to exclude the works of the Law as a system of merit (Gal. 3:19-20, 20-23; 1 Tim. 1:8-9; Rom. 3:19-20.

The End of the Law as a Rule of Life
The Law ended as a way of life at the coming of Jesus Christ (Rom. 10:4). This instituted the new law of the Spirit, the one of liberty (Rom. 8:2, 13).

simple! he is too busy knowing how many hairs are on your head and winning Emmys and footbal games. It is more fun when he is getting you that parking place at the mall than taking care of the real problems of the world( like starving children). The Bible is a very morbid book in some chapters and would be in the porno section of the bookstore if cetain other chapters were illistrated.

Dear Alysia.
The world is as brutal as it is as beautiful. If you are acquainted with the Christian story God's own Son was not spared the brutality of this world. If you think of it the Crucifixion symbolises God's labour to bring about creation and human beings in particular. There is no free lunch for anyone including God himself. Yet in spite of all the draw backs you find people in many bad situations that are still optimistic and live in a way that uplifts humanity. Look for these heroes for inspiration and the strength of the human spirit. God is the God of Life and Death and you have to believe that He has the power to overcome both. If you are ever in any doubt about God just remember that God's love is unconditional and regardless of anyone's shortcomings He will deliver us all home in due course. Many bad things we attribute to God are simply human perceptions and human unreadiness to understand yet what is Love and Compassion. Having the exercise of free we learn by our mistakes. By overcoming adversity we strenghten our spirit and stive for higer things and the better ways. That is how we increase as a humanity.

Peace

Only God knows why He does what He does. Our purpose is not to question our creator but to love Him and worship Him. You are quoting Old Testament verses. Old Testament people were under the law. New Testament people (after the death of Christ) are under Grace. We are bound to God by Jesus through His blood sacrifice for our sin.

I will answer

#1 God doesn't heal all sickness/disabilites because we are all flesh and subject to the laws and flaws of Nature. Through our hardships we learn to depend on him more and grow closer to him. He then can perfect us and mold us into the people that he wants us to be, giving us a full zealous desire for a world where justice, fairness and peace reign.

#2 Starving people... Are you starving? Do you have plenty and even extra? Do you give your extra to the poor? You probably do, because you seem like you care. Did God make you do that? No. You give out of your own heart. He is not in the business of forcing kind, compassionate hearts on people. He will not make the War Lords in Darfur give up their weaponry and buy food for their people. We are fortunate, we live in a free society with a government that provides care for their people. Maybe not in every facet of life, but enough care that most of us do not starve. It is our responsibility to see to it to feed the those in need when we can. It is not a "God" problem, but mankind's problem stemming from Power grabbers and the greedy.

#3 What ever God commanded in the old testement he had a purpose for. Do you think that when a child wouldn't obey their parents, the parents put them to death? Mankind would have went extinct. God commanded them to do so, so they would see how hard it was to put people to death for sin. Knowing full well that they wouldn't have to heart to so. He conveyed to the people how it broke his heart that all his children was under a death sentence for their sins. But now because of the Atonement of Christ we are not under our old death sentence. You can compare it to the fact he wanted to show Abraham how heart wrenching it would be to sacraffice his only son.

Oh my gosh, stirring up trouble on the religious forum.

People have answered questions #1 and #2 ad nauseam on this place. If you really wanted an answer, you could have Googled it.

As for point #3, how is a person "innocent" if he deliberately and knowingly violated a decree of God?

You must be one of those "troll" fellers that we keep hearing about. Oh dear....

I am giving a personal opinion to your questions. This is the way I believe.
1&2. When Christ is tempted by satan in the garden, satan offers him the world if Christ will worship him. Until Christ's second comming, satan has control over the evil in the world. We have been given faith to aid us in our trials.
3. Those are all Old Testament verses. We are to follow the teachings of Christ that are in the New Testament. Christ tells us not to judge others least we be judged.
