Then why is it that christians think that they can convert homosexuals if they know that it is not a choice? I have seen the pain that some go through when they realize they are gay and I know that some would not wish it to be true (how is that a choice?)

Yes, they can seek help.. so that you can scare them out of their homosexual ways with fear tactics.

So do you want all gay people to die? The bible also says this:
"Suppose a man happens to see a virgin who hasn't promised to marry another man and the man who happens to see her rapes her, but someone discovers them. Then the man must weigh out 20 ounces of silver and give it to the woman's father. The man must marry the woman because he raped her. And he can never divorce her as long as he lives."
- The Bible [Deuteronomy 22:28-29]
Do you still think that this is right? Would you follow this? Would you say that the bible does not encourage rape?

Yes I do, because in God's word it is called an abomination and rebellion against God. If one has these tendencies they can choose to deny them and be celibate or work with professional counselors to change their behavior. As a Christian I do not hate "gay" persons only the sin of being gay.

I don't see why Christians are so eager to say it is a choice. I didn't chose to be attracted by certain sins, it is just my weakness. Sometimes we willingly let our weaknesses run rampant, but other times we genuinely wish we could stop. I think homosexuality is much the same. Whether someone thinks its fine, or tries to keep from it, it is their weakness. Many Christians try to say that people are not 'born gay', and while I agree with that in a sense, because it just seems silly to think a baby comes out of its mom and instantly wants to fornicate with another baby, I do not necessarily think there is an exact point when a person "choses" to have homosexual thoughts. It just sort of builds and builds. For instance I wasn't born attracted to redheads, I don't think, it just sort of happened later on. I didn't look at them and say, "I will chose to be attracted to them" I just saw them and was. So in a sense it is not a choice but in another sense it is.

YES! Because naturally in all living creatures there is a male and a female. Although they may not love one another as humans do, they all know that the opposite sex is what they are supposed to be attracted to and they will only mate with the opposite sex. Matter of fact some are so dominate they will kill to be with there mate.People once told me I was born an alcoholic. My mother and father both died at an early age from alcoholism. I am an alcoholic with 15 months of sobriety and it's all because I "choose" not to drink anymore and I never thought that was going to happen. Yes it was very difficult to quit, but it was the best "choice" of my life. We all have to be responsible for our choices, In our hearts as well as in society. Yes you have the right to choose, but you need to consider all the factors ( good and bad ) when you make your choice and be willing to live with that. So in my opinion "only" I believe it is a choice and the wrong choice at that.

To easy, 1 Kings 14:24; 15:12; 22:46 and II Kings 23:7 all call gays Sodomites. The biblical desgination of the homosexual comes from the name of the wicked city of Sodom- Genesis 18:20. God's judgement upon Sodom and Gomorrah was fire and brimestone.
God calls homosexuality an Abomonation Leviticus 20:13 If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.
People that become gay are not born with it, that is blasphemy to say God created a gay person. How can you even say that when God's word says it's an ABOMONATION?

No. If you're borned gay, there is nothing you can do about it, just as there's nothing you can do about the gender, color, eyesight, etc that you are borned with. It is biological, and has nothing to do with religion. Interpretation of the Bible by churches these days should be looked at critically.

Yes, but whose choice?
And perhaps the more relevant question, "Is it an irrevocable choice?"
There may not be one single clear answer to either of these questions in that the answers may be different for different people.

Maybe not a conscious choice but a choice. We're very much influenced by our society. Take fashions for example. Do we make a conscious choice as to the style we like to wear? Isn't it odd that we all make the same choice? It's like a herd instinct.

Yes, I do think it is a choice, Why? because Their are people who are born thinking it is ok to have sex with your Mother or father, overall conclusion just because it seems natural don't mean it is. Alot people say that the more you dislike homosexuality the more of a chance you have of having homosexual tendacies which is untrue, the truth of that is the more you accept it and think its ok the more of a chance you have of having homosexual mendacity's. plus what I just said the bible backs up, the bible says we are born so sin is natural, just because it seems natural don't mean it is.

No, there's a lot of new studies that show sexual orientation isn't an active choice that we make.
I believe, however, that gay people are still responsible for their sexual choices just like we are.
