Not traditional Hawaiian food but the typical Hawaii food nowadays. I've been to Hawaii once but I didn't get to try any "local food".

I'm scheduled to be in Hawaii, work related. Tough job but somebody has to do it.

1) O’no Hawaiian Foods on 726 Kapahulu Avenue. Local hole-in-the-wall but good eats. Local favorite (pidgin English spoken hea). Waitresses are over 60 but tell them they don’t look a day over 40, they'll love you forever. The cook is even older. Walls are covered with autographed pictures of every celebrity who’se eaten here. From Hollywood stars, entertainers, sports legends and even a former president of U.S. Prices are very reasonable. 2) The Poi Bowl inside the Ala Moana Shopping Center Food Court. Good local grind here also. 3) Quick stuff: Any L&L Barbeque.

Your best bet would be to go to Zippy's. They have a wide range of stuff available and the cuisine ranges from American (club sandwiches and such) to local favorites (such as saimin, hawaiian food plates with laulau, and oxtail soup). Zippy's are all over Oahu and any local will be able to tell you where the nearest Zippy's is to your location.

Good luck and happy travels!

All the answers were correct.
Though I just wanted to add that any of the lunch wagons around the island is also very good.

I'd suggest anything with the word "Drive-Inn" next to it. Loco Moco, L&L, or Zippy's. I love those places, love them almost too much, hehe

for breakfast, if you wanna dine somewhere that you're more familiar in, you could even try any McDonalds that you come across and order one of the breakfast plates.

They serve spam eggs and rice, portuguese sausage and eggs..... mmm-mmmm goood!!

Zippy's has it all. I know it'll sound funny, but try their chili, you might not find a better tasting chili anywhere.
