It can linger a good while, depending on air circulation and the size of the room.

Best way to get rid of it is to open windows and turn on some fans.

Smoking has been banned here in public areas from july 1st. BAr workers have found that it takes about 4 weeks for the 2nd hand smoke to clear their systems. A friend who works in a bar has lost her cough after 4 weeks. the smokers are now banished to smoking areas outside the building. Good thing!

If you're nose is the catcher of the person smoking, its no longer in the air because you already inhaled. Stay away to a person smoking.

Just tell the idiot that is still smoking to get outside. Smoking the in house, car, anywhere near you is no longer permitted. My brother-in-law died from a heart condition because he was still smoking. My sister, now years later, still has cronic lung problems because of the second hand smoke. If your the smoker. . . get mad. . .they're killing you and you're supporting them. . .what's wrong with that picture?

Try an exhaust fan. Open a window on one side of the room and put a fan (blowing air outside) in the window on the other side of the room.
