God is omnipresent, always has been, always will be.
As for you, you're just trying to bait people with the wording of your question.
Nice try but not good enough. God wins again.

Antiquity unknown but it is reasonable to assume that when humans had settled well with their material needs and a spiritual vacuum had begun to gnaw in their minds for a solution,an idea like a religion with a God Figure at it's head ,may have been the outcome to fill the vacuum.Looking at Hinduism and such old religions,it could be 5-6 thousand years or if we take concept of elemental Gods like Sun,moon, wind etc,it would be even more old.

Man didn't invent God. God created man, along with everything else.
Religion is man's way of relating to, and worshipping God. People have been doing this as long as there have been people on earth, in all historical ages, all cultures. It's proof that we have a soul/spirit component that needs to be taken care of and satisfied

@ the one who wrote the above quote: In my opinion you suck! Closed minded ignorant moron!
@Asker: I believe that God is omnipresent and people did not invent God. Man, however was not aware of God true presence much like now. The Greeks, Norse and Egyptians thought of God as many Gods. People did not invent God they just simple "started" to feel God. In my opinion, Man started to feel God somewhere before the Greeks.

Its quite likely that even very early tribes had some form of superstitious religious beliefs, but these are of course not recorded.
The first recorded organised religion is Hinduism. Its origins are not entirely known, but it could date back as far as 4,500 BC. This is at least 2,000 years before Judaism. It also means that recorded Hinduism predates the biblical account of the creation of the earth - which is somewhat embarassing for those who want to take the bible literally.

Actually, religion as we know it (you know what one) was actually made in the A.D. I don't know the exact date, but there is the theory that Constantiene, under threat of the death of his people, chose to convert his kingdom rather than seeing it destroyed. He, and others, are the reason for the religion starting. Then there are many changes throughout the years, and there you go. Don't want to go into detail, simply to avoid the arguments.

LMAO I had to take the 2 points and respond. Depending on your views which, based on the way you worded your question, I assume are of the Atheistic stand (which IS a religion in and of itself) At some point while we were still hunter/gatherers, one of 2 things happened.....
A) We concocted the whole thing in an effort to try and explain our existence
B) We "felt" the presence of spirit and acknowledged it in the form of faith.
Either way you look at it, a positive aspect of people who actually LIVE their faith is that there's a sense of decency, community, civic involvement, and an honest intent to help their fellow Sapien.

Religion is a way to God- to "love" God. God's love people.
I LOVE YOU NOT OF B.C. BECAUSE GOD COMMANDED ME TO LOVE YOU THROUGH MY RELIGION, THE ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH.
