do you live where it snows? do you go offroad? If the answer is no to either than you probably don't *need* a 4WD

A 2 wheel drive car will also all other things being equal use less fuel and require less maintenance. It may also be safer because if you start to lose traction in bad weather you'll actually notice whereas 4 wheel drives can very well let you drive too fast in bad weather for the traction available (and 4 wheel drive will not help you stop at all nor will it make your car steer better unless you're flooring it which you shouldn't be doing).
If you need to go off road a lot then a 4 wheel drive is a good idea (just make sure you get one that's actually made for off road driving) and the extra traction can help on icy roads (although it can also let you crash at higher speeds and make it harder to feel when you don't have much control) but for normal driving save your money.

Well how bad does a person actually need a 4 wheel drive car?? Like why buy it for one or two storms?? Cheaper to stay home in really bad weather. 4 wheel drive does not help crummy drivers.
