Jesus said:
"You must be born again"
When we are born of the Spirit, we receive the Spirit of Christ, and take on a new nature, like the one Jesus had when He walked the earth.
We begin to love God and people from the heart, and this is the fulfillment of all God's requirements, because the one who loves never does evil to his neighbor.
I was born again over 36 years ago. It is a gift from God, received by faith - faith that Jesus is the Son of God, come down from heaven, crucified for the sins of men - but for your sins in particular - and risen from the dead and seated at the right hand of God. Call upon Him today to save you. here is His promise:

"I (Jesus) tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me (the Father) has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life."
John 5:24

"That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved."
Romans 10:9-10

Simply believing that God exists does not make one a Christian. As you’ve said, even the Devil believes that there is One God. It is the reason he trembles. A real Christian has a personal and loving relationship with her/his LORD Jesus Christ. Eternal life with God, which one receives when s/he accepts His gift of salvation, in exchange for her/his sins, means to know God personally, and grow in this relationship. This relationship is recognizable by his or her lifestyle: s/he sincerely attempts to follow the heart of God. God knows who really loves Him and who doesn’t. If someone claims that s/he is a Christian, but lives like the Devil, you would have just reason to wonder if s/he’s a real Christian.

All sorts of religions teach of a monotheistic deity. Belief in God does not make someone a Christian. By definition a Christian is a follower of the teachings of Jesus Christ. Followers of someone/something else are not Christians.

Christians believe, among other things, that Jesus was/is the only Son of God, that He died and rose from the dead, and that He saved them from their sins in the process by becoming the sacrificial Lamb...for all the world.

There are significant differences between denominations, but Someone will sort that out in His own time.

Officially 90% of all Chrisitan churches as per the creed of nicea in the world say that there are two main doctrines one must accept in order to be a christian.

1. Trinity- God is three and yet one father, son, holy spirit

2. Sacrifcial attonement- that jesus the second part of the tritniy and yet fully God and the son of God was incarnated into a human being and was crucified for and that the blood he shed will atone for all mans sins who accept this beleif.

Interestingly becuase of the spread of liberalism and the average joe not respecting the legacy of scholarship/leadership in christianity most will not answer this question witht he correct info I have given you

A Christian is a Christian because they trust God for what He says. He sent His Son Jesus Christ and He said, "Whoever believes in me will not be condemned."

The Christian then becomes a recipient of the Holy Spirit as promised at the end of John 15, and in the midst of John 16. The Spirit of God is the same Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead, and we are promised to be raised as well.

In another place it is written,
11 As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame." 12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13 for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." (Romans 10)

John 3:16 seems to be the key to me. Since Satan is a fallen angel, and it appears God has dealt with him in the past, I'd say that the same rules for humans may not apply to Satan. Make sense?

Hiya , that is a seemingly simple question but one that is complex.

Fortunately , complex isn't complicated , because we have the Bible to explain all such matters.

As you rightly pointed out ,. just having belief in Jesus is no basis or guarantee that we really are a true Christian.

In Matthew 7:21-23 Jesus clearly said --

¨Not everyone saying 'Lord Lord' will enter into the kingdom of the heavens, but the one doing the will of my Father who is in the heavens will. Many will say to me in that day, ''Lord Lord' did we not prophesy in your name , and expel demons in your name, and perform many powerful works in your name?' and yet then I will confess to them : I never knew YOU ! Get away from me you workers of lawlessness.''

Yes , today there are a multitude of people , quite good people , that believe that they are in a good Christian religion and are following Jesus.

But Jesus WILL reject them.

Why will he do that ?

He does so because their teachings are not in line with the requirements of God.
The almighty God in the heavens - Jehovah deserves , and rightly expects that people serve and worship him in an acceptable and clean way.

Being clean means not being corrupted by the pagan and unGodly teachings that are often found in religions today.
For example . hell fire , the trinity , and the immortal soul are all teachings that God hates.

It is wise not to be mislead , there is only one way to serve God ., and it is found in the pages of the Bible.

How about having Trust & FAITH in Him. Which Satan does not. See, Satan belives and TREMBLES 'cause as it is written of him "You have become a horror, and shall be no more forever." Why read Ezk 28:12b-19 & Isaih 14:9-15.... Then you may understand As I said we trust our Lord and Saviour. Satan does NOT!

By definition, a Christian is one who follows the teachings of Christ. But in order to be a REAL Christian, one must go to the right church, and read the proper version of the Bible. I would tell you what the right church and Bible version are, but we are a very exclusive club. After all, I wouldn't want to get to heaven and find out it's standing room only.

Simple Christians believe in Jesus Christ as the Savior, just as Buddhist believe in Buddha, Muslims in Mohammad.
