Biomedical treatments helped my son regain his speech. Glutathione, an antioxidant, is low in autism. It is responsible for removing the toxins from the body. I gave lipoceutical glutathione to help my son detox and aloe vera juice to heal his intestines. One month into the treatment, my son started to speak again. His therapists were astonished. My son had regressed to being speechless by 3 yrs old. I continued by adding multivitamin, minerals, cod liver oil, coromega, etc. He can now say and write the alphabet and numbers. DAN dr.s diagnosed him with mercury toxicity, oxidative stress, lead and pesticide poisoning. Conventional dr. did not even think to run urinary prophyrins or amino acids. If they had done this, they would have found the mercury toxicity and low tryptophan levels. My son is currently being detoxed and is doing well. His new speech therapist diagnosed him with apraxia. This probably came from the metals and chemical toxins.
Half of the students in my son's pre-K class did not graduate.
I sent info about biomedical treatments to the other parents with samples of coromega ( omega 3 supplement). The other mothers knew about my son's progress. He was the only one able to participate in the Christmas program AND graduation ceremony. One of the mother's chased my husband down and told him she needed to speak to me. She is now following my suggestions. His teacher told the IEP coordinator about the "special diet" that improved my son's autism. Both his teacher and speech therapist testified about the tremendous progress my son had made. He went from speechless to saying words and some simple sentences.

I am a mom of a 13 year-old with Asperger's Syndrome. I am also a clincian (master's level) providing treatment for autism and ADHD as well as for Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome in adults. I can tell you the biomedical approach is not only effective, it makes sense!

I believe many people are put off by the bio-med approach because at first it seems so complicated. Do not be discouraged and do not believe those who tell you it's quackery or hype. I have seen the hair analyses and urine provocation tests of these kids and I have seen smiles and heard voices that have been lost for long periods of time.

There are many websites available and there are some wonderful groups of parents who are experiencing their own miracles and want to help others. Please utilize them. Where are you located?

In the Autism community it is well known that Biomedical treatments are VERY VERY EFFECTIVE!
I personally have seen astounding improvements in my 31 month old since we started Biomedical. He regressed after his 18 month vaccinations to a child who was totally mute. He played with NO toys and engaged in NO imaginative play. He had NO interest in other kids. Constant diarrhea or constipation. We were afraid he would totally disappear into himself. Our Pediatrician was clueless. They had no reasons for why it occurred and no treatments at all.
They were, and continue to be,. TOTALLY USELESS.
We started treatment at 21 months.
He is completely different now. He's warm and cuddly. He plays with toys. He uses his voice and has regained several words. He plays with other kids. Our occupational therapist has been amazed at his rapid improvement. I can not emphasize enough how important biomedical treatments have been for our son. Oprah has done a service but others have been in the trenches fighting for these kids for years.

Star, The web site www.defeatautismnow.com has alot of information about autism as well as biomedical treatments. The organization is in Calif. but holds conferences twice a year for parents as well as medical professions. The conferences are held around the country, they are heavy on pushing for vaccine research as well as bio-med. treatments.
I have not tried this on my daughter, but maybe you could find someone at this web site who has. Good Luck!i

I am a firm believer in biomed for autism. My son is 6. Although I treat my son myself, I self studied the DAN method for 2 years and alternative meds to help my son. But in the beginning we visited a DAN -defeat autism now doc. They are good people, the other doctors are dum, dum doctors don't waste your hard earn money going to anyone but DAN doctors for autism. Mainstream medicine can not help someone with autism. You need to see a functional medicine doctor (naturopath) or a DAN doctor. TACA (talk about curing autism) site is wonderful. In a nutshell....Changing the diet for someone with autism is step one, healing the gut is step two, then chelation or a good detox is step three. Do not overlook a social skill therapy too, such as RDI which is wonderful to improve the life of someone on the spectrum!

They tend to work more effectively if treatment is started at a very early age.
