I'm going to be using regular walkie talkies where I work so I need to know which channels I can use without the need of a lincense?

Most good walkie-talkies offer a choice of several usable channels, with no need for a license.

Its mostly the wattage/output that makes the license needed. If you are not modifying the walkie talkies you should have no problems.

Channels 7-14 on a FRS/GMRS walkie require no license.

Don't jump to conclusions. We have a safety 'phone upstairs, as advised by the fire brigade, which is powered by the 'phone line rather than from the mains. When i use it, i can hear Bhangra on it all the time because the extension lead acts as an aerial and it picks up the audio for the local south Asian TV station or possibly an Asian radio station. I think this is probably what's happening to you, or something similar.
