Yes, you can pray to God. You can expect an answer if you are doing the best you feel you can do...you must put yourself in order to recieve revelation from your Heavenly Father (through the Holy Ghost). Live as worthy as you know how.

I'll give one important quotation from the above link:
"As soon as we learn the true relationship in which we stand toward God (namely, God is our Father, and we are his children), then at once prayer becomes natural and instinctive on our part (Matt. 7: 7-11). Many of the so-called difficulties about prayer arise from forgetting this relationship. Prayer is the act by which the will of the Father and the will of the child are brought into correspondence with each other. The object of prayer is not to change the will of God, but to secure for ourselves and for others blessings that God is already willing to grant, but that are made conditional on our asking for them. Blessings require some work or effort on our part before we can obtain them. Prayer is a form of work, and is an appointed means for obtaining the highest of all blessings."
Hope that helps!

It's odd that I used to think my prayers had something to do with me. They really do not. God initiates prayer, and He relays it through a chosen vessel of mercy (believer), and then back to Himself, byway of the Holy Spirit.
Romans 8:26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered
These are the only prayers God hears. Everything else is just a bunch of noise to Him.
Isaiah 59:2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.
Ezekiel 8:18 Therefore will I also deal in fury: mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity: and though they cry in mine ears with a loud voice, yet will I not hear them.
Matthew 6:7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
If you are His, He hears you, in or out of a church. Although, with the rampant apostasy in the modern day church, you'd be best not to be there. Instead, as a living stone in the temple of God, you may pray wherever you may be.

Yes. You don't to be in church or a church member to pray. God still heard and answers prayer. His answer might not be the answer we wanted, but that doesn't mean He didn't answer. Are you wanting God to answer your prayers and conduct your worship, on your own terms only? I once learned that God answers prayer with Yes, No, or Wait. Does God desire that you go to church? Sure He does. So, would it be a good idea to go? Yes. Prayer and church aren't just for asking God to give us something we want. It's not like "God please give me this------." or God please correct that......in my life. Prayer and church are also for giving God praise, giving God thanks, communion, singing to God, learning, professing our faith in and out of prayer and church. The Bible tells us that where two or three are gathered (sounds a lot like church) there I (God) am with them.

Dear heart, I do not know where you are living, but in the USA it is 'okay' to pray to God in the middle of Times Square on Friday night before the curtain. The prayer-answering part of your question is not a constitutional matter.

It's ok, as long as you understand who it is you're praying to. If you're a christian and you don't go to church, but you still pray, then yes, He'll answer you. Just remember God rarely answers your prayers how you'd expect Him to.

If you never go to visit your father, but you call him on the phone sometimes, you'll still have some sort of relationship with him. He'd be closer to you if you came to visit, but at least you haven't called off all contact. Remember that the same goes with the Father of your spirit. Plus, this Father has enough love for you that he'll always listen.
Just remember that answers come in their own time, in unexpected ways, through unexpected people. Never feel like you can't talk to your Father just because it's been a while since you last visited.

Yes, God will hear and answer you...church attendance isn't required by God for Him/Her to hear and answer your prayers. If it was, there would be a lot of "sinners" who wouldn't ever get their prayers heard and answered!

Going to church is not and has never been a requirement of salvation. Jesus said that the only way to God was through him, and he meant it (although I daresay that he manifests himself in different ways for different people...)
So yes, he would answer your prayers. Although the answer you get isn't always the answer you want.
