I just found a stray cat a few weeks ago, and she was already pregnant. I know she had her kittens, and I need to know how to find them! I do not want them to be wild and reproduce!
I have tried alot, bell collar, following her, and tying a LONG string around her, but no luck. I really need to know how to find a nest because I have looked everywhere.
thanks

Yes, she was a semi-feral in the first place. She leads me in a false direction every time. I know they aren't dead because her nipples are always wet when she comes back.

Yes, she always comes inside. It seems she is VERY tame.

If this cat has already had her litter, they may already be wild. Do you know how long ago she had them? If they open their eyes before having contact with humans they will be wild and although it can be done, it is unlikely that they will ever let you near them. Does momma come near you? Does she come into your home? If she does, she may bring the babies for you to see, when she feels it is safe. She may have these babies blocks away if she is a stray cat. They could be in anyones garage or back shed. Even under someones house. She would have looked for a safe, quiet, dry place. Did she disappear before she had her babies? And if she did how long was she gone? This may give you an idea as to where they may be. She would have left them after about 2 days, but she will not go far from them, so they have to be close enough that she feels she can get back to them in a reasonable amt of time. They usually feed their babies every 2 hours or so. Have you tried asking the neighbors if they have seen or heard any baby kittens? I hope you can find them. Good luck

Oh I just read your add'l comments. If her nipples are wet they are CLOSE. Did you look under your house? She knows you are following her and she won't lead you to them if she is afraid to let you near them. Try to watch her without letting her know. She is a tricky one lol Good luck

OKAY---stop trying to chase her around to find the babies. Every time you do this, chances are, she's going to move them again. Leave her alone. As long as she is tame and comes into your house to eat and socialize, when the kittens are old enough, she will probably bring them right to you---as in deliver a present on the porch for you. Also, pay attention--if her nipples are all wet when she comes in to see you, these kittens are right nearby, like right under the house, the garage, etc., but--listen--be very quiet and listen. As soon as the kittens are able to make squealing noises, you'll hear them. Chances are, they're right there in front of your face, and you can't see them. Mother cats are SO clever in hiding their babies right in plain sight. lol!

Most of the advise already give is great. You need to get her neutered as soon as you think she is stopping to nurse. Or she will get preggy again and compound your problems. If she trusts you there is a chance she will bring them to you. Even a domestic house cat will hide the kittens until they are older. She doesn't want you messing with them. However the kitten will go feral if not handle fairly soon after birth.

Keep feeding her regularly, she will bring them to you to feed them as well when they are old enough to eat.
By the way, don't give them to a shelter. They are better off wild than put down. If you can't keep them, just spay them so that they don't reproduce and leave them where you found them. If you don't want to have many kittens around, just don't get involved, I mean don't feed the mother in order to capture her and have her and her babie put to death afterwards.

Don't worry, you still have plenty of time to find them. Kittens are very easy to tame up to six weeks old. (They can be tamed after that, but it gets more challenging.) And you definitely don't want to take them before they are old enough to eat on their own (around 4-6 weeks).
I'd expect her to start bringing them around once they are up and walking well, usually four to five weeks of age. They still won't be very fast, though, so you should be able to catch them. If not, see if you can rent a live cat trap from the humane society to catch them. (You don't have to give them the kittens you catch.)
You've had some good ideas so far, I think you'll be able to get them once they're old enough to be up and around!
Good luck!

If she leads u in different directions it's because she doesn't want u to find them, she is protecting them ,she does not know what u will do if you find them, so well done for caring thats really kind. keep feeding her and she will have the strength to feed her babies ,maybe thats all she wants at the moment, one day she might bring them to you but be warned she might only want you to feed them all and nothing else, but at least you will know they're alive and well if nothing else, just be patient

Could they have been still born? Then she may not have any living ones.

If you have been watching her then you do know the direction in which she heads most of the time. She may wait until they are a little older before she carries them home. Home is where the heart is; does she feel at home yet?
