Hi there, I will give you all the facts and details about braces cos I have experienced with it before.

Okay here we go:

It will not be painful when they are putting the braces on your teeth. Before the braces are being put on, the dentist will first spray a kind of 'sour' and sort of 'bitter' element onto those teeth that need to have braces on. After that, the dentist will being putting the braces on your teeth.

After the braces are put onto your teeth, you will definitely feel very uncomfortable with it (cos of the sort of 'sour' and 'bitter' smell and taste of the element being sprayed onto your teeth earlier). Also, you will feel pain as the braces that are being put onto your teeth 'pull' your teeth so as to straighten the teeth. At the first time when you have just put on the braces, it will take (in most cases) a week or so before the pain slowly subside. So, it's better for you to consume soft and watery food (eg. porridge) during those periods.

It depends on how many teeth that you want to put braces on to decide the time period it will take them to put the braces on your teeth. That is, if you are deciding to put braces on both the upper and lower jaws, then definitely it will take much more time than simply just putiing braces on either the upper or the lower set of teeth.

Hope that the information helps. :)

My daughter wore braces for about two and a half years. I remember it took at least a couple of hours to put her braces on. She said that the braces were more uncomfortable than anything else. The metal bands rubbed against the insides of her cheeks and other parts of her mouth. There were little wires that would poke out and stab those areas, too. She also said the time the braces really hurt her was when she had to go to the orthodontist every six weeks or so to get them tightened. Her entire mouth would hurt for a couple of days afterwards and she could barely eat anything because it hurt so much for her to chew food.

For me, putting them on was very quick. They did it over several visits, where I got brackets put on one time, and then they finished it by putting in the wire and elastics. all in all, each session never took more than 20-30 minutes.

Don't be so worried though! It DOESNT hurt at all when they're putting everything on, it just feels a little tense when you're all done. After they're on, it might ache for the next few days, BUT remember this... it gets better the longer you have them one. it hurts less and less! It just aches everytime they put on new elastics (tighten ur braces), but again, it gets fine after a few days and you will eventually not even notice them.

just take it easy for the first few days you have them on. and make sure not to eat solid food. soups are good.

Remember! always keep telling yourself it will get better soon. and you'll be VERY glad you got them when you're older! You're fortunate enough to get braces. A lot of people can't afford it. so just bear through it!

don't be scared! you'll be fine. :)

It does not hurt at all when they put them on. They will fell uncomfortable/sore for a few days. It takes about a half hour to put them on. When you firt get them on you will just be thinking,"How can I do anything with all this metal in my mouth?" After about a week you won't even know that they are there. Good luck with braces. They will be off before you know it. It will all be worth it in the end. trust me. I had braces for two and a half years. getting them off in 9 days. Yay! (sorry, just excited)

I don't know how uncomfortable it is to get them put on but I know you will have pain for several days once they apply them. Take ibuprofen 400-600 mg every 6 hours for pain and be sure you have plenty of soup, mashed potatoes, pudding, cottage cheese and other soft foods in the house to eat for a few days. I don't remember how long it took to put my sons braces on. Also when they do your adjustments every couple of weeks you may have sore teeth then so be prepared.

It doesnt hurt putting braces on but later when they tighten them your mouth will be really tender. Its not nice but think about it - you will have lovely teeth and look great when they come off. Just make sure you wear your plate later and look after them after all the money you are spending on the braces. I had braces and when i got them off i never wore the plate and never looked after my teeth - they went back crooked and i have had to have some out! I cant turn back time now and totally regret it!!!!

It is totally painless when they put them on. It hurts later after they've been on for like ten hours, then your mouth gets sore. You get used to them really fast and i dont think that they were all that uncomfortable. And it depends how long you'll have to have them on for. Everyone is different. Probably like a year to three years. Ask your orhodontist and he'll be able to estimate for you.

It will not hurt when they're puting them on exactly, but you will be really sore afterwards and you really won't want to eat or chew anything because of the discomfort (not immediately anyway). Certain foods, such as spagetti, will taste funny because of the metal. It will be uncomfortable for about 2 weeks to a month. It takes them a couple of hours because they have to place them correctly on each tooth.
