stop trying to force it and just relax.. it might help if u tense up certain muscles then relax them... try to clear your head and focus on something easy.. like your breathing.. dont try to plan your day or week as this will keep your mind racing.
also avoid caffiene at least 6 hours before u go to sleep.
you may need to have a look at the root of the problem too... if this is common is it because you are sleeping on an irregular pattern, you body likes a routine, consistency. So try to always go to sleep and rise at the same time. dont do all nighters as this will throw your body out of its normal pattern. Exercise helps also... if u regularly excerise you will find that going to sleep is much easier.

Sleeping problems, they suck.
Reading, that's what does it for most.
People say warm milk, it's not bad, add a drop of vanilla.
I pray, if you are having problems in your life and your brain wont shut up* try clearing it, keep doing it, clear it and make it stay cleared,once you find yourself thinking again repeat from ** until you sleep. I hope I've helped some.

I listen to R&B slow jams on my IPod and look at the night sky staring at the stars, I always find one that catches my eye and then I wonder if someone out there in the world is looking at the same star as I am. That's mainly my nightly thing now.

I soak in a warm tub with bath products added to the water and all the lights out and just a night light on or candles lit. You can also drink warm milk.

I try reading a book. After a few pages I'm out like a light. Never fails.

read books which u don't like or watch show which is boring n the next few minutes u will get sleepy
