For example: radiocarbon dating, fossilized remains of pre-historic creatures, vestigial organs (body parts that serve no purpose, as in wings on an ostrich), dinosaurs, etc. There seems to be so much scientific data that indicates that the earth is in fact billions of years old and that animals did indeed evolve. How can I keep my faith in God despite all of this data?

Maybe you should have faith that God has the ability to cause the universe to fast forward to a moment in time within the past that was sufficiently entertaining. Things that appear to have existed before this chosen point in time were extrapolations God did that never really played out in actual time. In practice God skipped over these to the point in the universe when time actually began.

First of all consider this - perhaps science is uncovering HOW God did things, not negating that God did them. Secondly, consider that not everything that you believe is true, some of it is conjecture from well meaning religious scholars who interprete the Bible. The Bible has had many incarnations in terms of translation. That gives it an error factor, combined with human interpretation, can give a false picture.

That doesn't mean that your faith is wrong, or that science is wrong, but somewhere inbetween there are some errors in what you've been taught, or what science has found and deduced.

I've watched the History Channel and the Science Channel, and there are times when they find something and immediately say "Well this is true because of this bone I found" etc. Well, as a layman, just watching I often ask myself - how do you know all of that just from this one bone??? (or whatever the discovery happens to be.) Sometimes scientists extrapolate too much also.

I guess what I'm really saying is listen with your heart and your mind, and believe what you feel is right.

Well I for one do not think that Science has the final answer. If religions kept changing their mind as often as science does, religion would have been given up long ago. Science is ever changing as we discover more and more, most of the time, science adds to the wonder of gods creations not taking away from the majesty of it all. Problem comes when so called religionists believe what is written in the bible is the absolute. Go back to original meaning of words in original texts and you find that the world wasn't created in seven 24 days but rather in seven time periods. Who is to say how long this was? What discovery about the universe has proved that religion is false? As for the theory of evolution, it is still a theory and science as well as religion does not have all the answers.

By accepting the fact that evolution is the physical history of God genetically creating life on Earth over billions of years and not the six or seven 24 hour days the religious experts miss translated them to be in Genesis. And by believing God made the genetic changes (missing link) in the chain of evolution to every living creature on Earth from the prehistoric days until now. I am a Christian and this is what I now believe.

It seems to me you have put more faith in scientist that can't possibly prove there theories, than you do God. Radio carbon date has been also proven to be inaccurate. Just because we don't understand why these "body parts", it is jumping to conclusions with out fact, that there was a past use for these. The very reason some false science needs billions of years of history, may be the only way to prove humans evolved from animals. There is much more science that proves God and a grand design, than there is for evolution.

your beliefs are based on interpretation, with the creation story a day does not represent 24 hours and proper interpretation of genesis from the Hebrew reveals it was a recreation of man for the fist man did not know how to farm the ground which fits in with science saying that early humans where hunters and gatherers. look up a site called Mazzaroth.com, it talks about how long its been since the last ice age and how that fits in with genesis basing a day as a age which is roughly 2400years.
Evolution is still only a wide believed theory for not all things fit into it's explanation for example there is a plant that has a flower that looks and smells identical to a female bird of one particular species, for pollination reasons. How could a plant see and smell and change it's self, it could not, only a being with eyes could have made this plant's flower to look and smell like the bird that was made to aid in it's pollination.

Well, your telling me by what you just said. You are still relying on these worldly theories to explain everything instead of God. He already knows Everything about this world since he created it. You can't compare the knowledge of this world to the knowledge of God.
1 Corinthians Chapter 2 explains God's wisdom
and how it doesn't compare to the wisdom of Human's.
1 Cor 2:7-8 Our words are wise because they come from God, telling God's wise plan to bring us into his glories of Heaven. This plan was hidden in former times, though it was made for our benefit before the World began. But the great men of the world have not understood it: If they had, they never would have crucified the Lord of Glory.
1 Cor 2:14 But the man who isn't a Christian can't understand and can't accept these thoughts from God, which the holy spirit teaches us. They sound foolish to him, because only those who have the holy spirit within them can understand what the holy spirit means. Others just can't take it in. If you want to keep your FAITH in the Lord than don't doubt his WORD. IT is true and honest. Always Trust in Him. It never changes. Always remember that these theories come from men. Follow The LORD's WORD and not man's ideals, because the LORD LOVES YOU and wants you to be happy and joyful in knowing HIM and his WORD. It's helps you draw closer to him if you believe solely in him and his word. You can't be for him and agianst him. Your either one or the other.
1 Peter 1:8 YOU LOVE HIM even though you have never seen him; though not seeing him, you TRUST him; and even now you are HAPPY with the EXPRESSIBLE JOY that comes from HEAVEN ITSELF. 1 peter 1:9 And your further REWARD for TRUSTING HIM will be the SALVATION OF YOUR SOULS. I hope you think this over and pray.

As for Carbon dating it is supposedly accurate but then there are things that effect it. Exposure to certain chemicals effect the rate of carbon decomposition for example, also climate changes can also effect it. I suggest you look for books by Dr. Carl Baugh he is a Scientist and runs a center in Glen Rose Texas where there are many fossils and Dinosaur foot prints, including one that baffles the Evolutionist. It is a T-Rex print in the same strata as a foot print of o Homo sapien.

You need to understand that a Faith in God is not Faith in Young Earth Creationism.

I believe in God - I believe he is the creator of the universe, but I also tend to think that evolution may be a process by which he accomplished that.
