You are trying to decide between coffee cake and chocolate cake? I think they will have roughly the same number of calories.

Coffee cake is flavoured with instant coffee powder, which has negligible calories.

Chocolate cake is flavoured with cocoa powder, which also has negligible calories (really!). Although raw chocolate does have a lot of fat, this fat (cocoa butter) is removed when chocolate beans are processed. The chocolate bars for confections (sweets or candy) are reconstituted by mixing sugar, milk powder, cocoa butter (or in cheaper chocolates, other edible fats as a substitute), and would have much higher calorie content than cocoa powder alone, but most recipes for chocolate cake I've seen do not use this chocolate for flavouring.

Google chocolate + Field's Museum (Chicago) for an excellent story of chocolate (one of my favourite sites).

Coffee definitely should unless you put about 5 or 6 bags of sugar along with a ton of dairy cream in it. Even then, the chocolate cake would have to be the low-fat kind to have less calories.

Hmmm is this a trick question??
Coffee if it is black with no milk, cream or sugar has considerably less calories.
If you are talking about a Venti Frappaccino with whipped cream...? Then the chocolate cake is lighter
However, brewed coffee with a tsp or two of sugar and a tbs of cream has less calories than cake. It depends on what you put IN your coffee that matters.

The same question could be... "What is less calories a hamburger or a turkey sandwich." If compared to a single mcdonalds plain hamburger or a turkey bacon avocado heavy-on-the-mayo on foccacia bread turkey sandwich teh same trickery could be applied.
Well done!

Sorry but one of my biggest pet peeves is spelling, so right off the bat I gotta say, learn to spell. Sauce* and cheese, spaghetti bolognese*, metabolism*, etc. and what the hell is Marmite marmite? Anyway, everyone's body is different - do not ever get yourself stuck into that mindset of "well she can do it, why can't I?" You two are not the same. Every person has a different metabolism rate, a different level of digestive enzymes, a different level of physical activity, different genetics, different environment, different eating habits...the list perpetuates. In addition, calories is not really a great way to measure it (but you should probably have somewhere around 2,000, if you really want to go by calories). And becoming skinny comes from lifestyle change - exercise, good sleep and food choices (not just AMOUNT of food). It couldn't hurt for you to consume more calories actually. And eat breakfast! Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, because you're breaking the fast (hence breakfast) that you endured while you slept. It sets the stage for how your day goes. Just eat breakfast, change your food choices and pick up your exercise levels. Eventually, your friend's crappy eating will catch up with her. P.S. Do not have coffee after around 1 P.M. in the afternoon. All the best, Matt

Coffee has zero calories, except for whatever you might put in it. The cake will have a bunch...depending on what type is is, if frosted, etc.

I think Coffe but it will depend on the fat and sugar content. If the chocolate cake is sugar-free and low fat and it has less calories.
