13 years as a paramedic and now the last 17 as a cop - I have never worn anything as comfortable as my Rocky's. I'll even wear them off duty. Comfortable, dry, light, but rugged. Well worth the money. You can find a deal on the price if you look, or ask around your area.
** sorry Connie - your reply wasn't there when I started typing this... I wasn't plagiarizing your work...promise.

Check www.galls.com
This is a police equipment supplier. They carry a number of good quality duty footwear.
I've been using Rocky Boots for years. Comfortable, durable, and reasonably priced.

Academy offers CAT boots in black. I wear those to work and they are fairly comfortable.
You can also try an army surplus store and pick up some combat boots, too.

I love "Rocky" boots. I've used them for most of my career. I think pricier than some others, but worth it. Here's their site:
http://www.rockyboots.com/Products/product.aspx?&CatId=107&subCatId=109
I'm currently using "Bates", because I was short $$$ and really needed new boots, but, not knocking Bates, I really prefer the Rocky's.
*** That's quite allright Cowboy!, glad you agree! I'm also 17.5 yrs!

Bates. Lightweight, durable, and the most comfortable I've worn.
But you'll have to work to keep a shine on them. DON'T use liquid polish unless you can afford to buy new boots every couple of months.

It's hard to give a specific reccomendation because some brands work for some people and other brands work for other people. I've had really good luck with Hi-Tec and Altama brands.

Go to your uniform shop. They will have numerous types for you to try on. You need to try them on yourself to be sure you can spend 8, 10, 12 hours on your feet in them. Don't take the suggestions from people on this site and do not order them online without trying them on first or be sure you can return them.
