The Vatican's sole military, the Swiss Guards are actually quite lethal. All of them are regualar officers from Switzerland's military and all of the Swiss Guard are well-versed in firearms and bodyguarding. Combat troops in the switzerland military are said to be extremly quick and fast with knife-fighting.

All the European microstates eg Andorra, San Marino, Liechtenstein and maybe Monaco. Faroe Islands and Greenland has defense provided by the Danish Army, if they were independent they wouldn't have any military either.
The other countries to not have a military are the Pacific Islands Marshall Islands, Nauru, Palau, Saoma, Soloman Islands, Tuvalu.
Dominica and Grenada are Carribean countries with small populations and liitlle need for an army, so they dont have one either.

Its interesting which ones make the list. Countries with ceremonial and paramilitary units were excluded.
Andorra, Costa Rica, Dominica, Grenada, Liechtenstein, Marshall Islands, Nauru, Palau, Saoma, Soloman Islands, Tuvalu
For the record, the Vatican City does have a military force. Many of the units were disbanded in the 1970s. The Swiss Guard is one of the remaining units under direct command of the pontiff.

Just about every country has some form of military. The Vatican has the Swiss guards, a protective force for the Pope.
Many smaller nations have a constabulary force that is part police, part military.

The Vatican is one - the Swiss Guards are swiss - foreign Mercenaries, not a native military.
And for "Paul B"s benefit - he should check out Dien Ben Phu in Vietnam - and perhaps the 3-4,000 casualties the US took froma few barely-armed, demoralised, ill-lead Vichy French soldiers in North Africa 1943. Going back a bit further he should look at the decisive battle of WWI - Verdun (and no, I'm not French).
