HOT AND COLD SENSITIVITY IS FROM THE NERVE HAVING AN INFLAMMATION OF THE NERVE. THIS IS CALLED PULPITIS.
THERE CAN BE REVERSIBLE PULPITIS WHICH A FILLING CAN FIX OR IRREVERSIBLE. THIS ONE NEEDS A ROOT CANAL OR EXTRACTION.

Nooo, it could also be a cracked or broken tooth. No one mentioned that one too. I have had many, so now I have beautiful caps that are all white and clean. Root canals are for a damaged root. There is pain too but that is when there is no evidence of a cavity or crack in the tooth. Go have the tooth examined. Happy drilling! :D

If you have pain from just cold you could have a cavity or you could be grinding your teeth and stressing them out...IF it have a pain from HOT things, usually this means you need a root canal. Sorry...go see you dentist ASAP!

various reasons for teeth being sensitive to hot or cold but it is normally something that a DDS needs to investigate. Could be a simple chipped tooth with a nerve exposed or something more serious.
