if all that's stopping you from going to heaven and meeting God is a feeble little mortal existence, why not just break the break the chains that bind you? why wait? how can it be a sin to kill yourself, if all you really want is to be closer to God? it seems the ultimate irony that you'd be sent to hell for this.

Matthew 24:13 says that the people who endure to the end are those who will be saved. If I kill myself, I'll have done the exact opposite of that.

OK, so, first of all, some of these answers are just not helpful. You can't 'shed this mortal attachment'. You love them, they love you. The guilt of what you're considering won't just disappear: you've admitted here yourself that in ending your life, you will bring immence pain into theirs. What you need to do is decide whether you can go forward knowing that. You've said your life is fine and that you're not depressed: I'm assuming that you're A) trying to gain attention/spark controversy with this question; B) suffering from some kind of physical illness; or C) depressed but don't want to label yourself with that, or maybe don't recognise a kind of numbness over your life as depression. If it's A), congratulations, you've achieved your goal. B), stick it out and get better, or explain your actions to your family - they might not like it, but it may help them to understand. C), go to a doctor, talk to someone about it, or even just try to keep living for the people you love, and maybe it'll get easier. I don't think you should commit suicide, and I think part of you doesn't want to either - if you were really ready, you just plain wouldn't care about the damage your actions would cause.

I might not believe in everything the church tells me, but I do know that taking a life, even my own, is a sin and will keep me out of "heaven" or where ever it is I will go after I die.
I have tried taking my own life many times, the first time being when I was 12 years old and I am now 37.
Taking my own life solves MY "problems" but it would cause too much grief for those who I would leave behind, especially my young son. I could never or would never be able to handle the fact knowing how much taking my own life would hurt my child.

There are many Christians who have thought of this, I have too. This certainly would be the easy way out, as my life is no bowl of cherries. But I do NOT want to disappoint God, and His plans for me. I pray He will take me, but I will wait in His time. What if I did kill myself, and found out I was wrong to do so? What if as I was dieing I couldn't ask for forgiveness quick enough, and ended in Hell?
I can't/won't risk that.

You won't be sent to hell for committing suicide. Salvation is what gets you into heaven and by Jesus, no one and no act can change that.
I have people here on earth counting on me, plus my life has a bigger purpose than me. Let God's will be done and never take one's own life.

God has a plan for my life. Me killing myself is not in it. Also I believe suicide to be a sin. So while I would get to meet God, He would have to send me to Hell. Doesn't sound like such a good idea to me.

First of all if you kill yourself you go to hell because you are throwing away Gods gift of life. God calls all his children when their time has come.

Killing yourself is sin as God send us in this word for testing us. If you leave your exams incomplete then you will be failed. So for going heaven it is necessary to complete your test in this word with good marks.

Because God controls my destiny and purpose in this life. When He is ready for me to come home, it is his sole decision, not mine. I have no chains that bind me. God frees us from bondage. I don't have to kill myself in order to be close to God.

Because I would rather stay on Earth and drive the devil and his followers nuts talking about God to all the non-believers on R&S.
