Im planning on visiting NY early next year for some possible career opportunities and may have to relocate. What are some popular neighborhoods for the young and single? P.S. I have a big dog too!

If you are young and single, you may not afford rent in some nice area( $2K to $3k for one bed room). So I suggest Greenwich Vallage and Chelsea are best parts for you.

Try Brooklyn or Queens.

If you're planning on moving to the city for the first time, with a dog no less, you're going to have to look out of Manhattan. Apartments in areas that you're looking for (popular for young and single, etc) are for people with lots of money. Lots.

Apartments in those neighborhoods with start at around $2,000 a month for a very small 1 bedroom--if you're looking for something large enough for a big dog in Manhattan, those apartments start at around $3,000. Good luck!

Chelsea is a great area to live. Really nice with upscale housing and nice restuarants, etc. Also, if you're a lady it's a plus because it's a gay neighborhood. :) So you can find lots of shopping buddies and not have to worry about a bunch of creepy NY guys oogling you when you're running and stuff.

Upper East Side-the rich and wealthy live here

Soho-same as the upper east side

East Village-full of NYU students and hipsters

Upper West Side-more family oriented than the upper east side

Tribeca-full of actors and actresses, close to lower Manhattan

Tribeca is one of the coolest places to be in Manhatten. It has a funky down to earth spirit neighborhood and a trendy New York socialite scene as well. Great stores, great food, great people and activities. Good luck with houseing though, but what am I saying. Housing in Manhatten? Good luck period!
