Because this idea makes too much sense for most sheeple to go along with. Not to mention that there would be no way to use it to control others and scare money out of them.

I have been wondering if there was an atheist concept like this, and if a person can be a-theist and believe in something like life after death. When i asked about meditation, some atheists thought i was being willfully insulting (honest i'm not!)
Although the term "higher power" begs the question of what (or WHO) would be the power it is higher than.

The God I believe in isn't caring. It simply is. Its kind of like how your body is made of billions of cells, each a separate entity, that combined make you. The God I see is simply the superposition of all things. The very essence of all existence. Whatever happens is its will.
Though I don't know if "will" is the right word, since I don't believe it is a willful or conscious being in a way that we could understand anymore than a cell could relate the goings on of its nucleus to a human consciousness...

A "higher power", can be the universal energy itself.
It can be cold and lonely, or warm and soothing. It's up to each of us to individually find our place within the universe.
All perspectives are correct. The universe allows for freedom of thought.

I find it cute that this questioned is posed.
Almost as if an orphan, because they didn't meet their parents... theorize there were never parents with form or being.
To me, "higher power" has to be a being or entity because EVERYTHING in all streams of consciousness/ lower powers have an identifiable form/function.
Even if the "higher power" was categorized as a "nothingness/everything" of sorts like the enveloping universe... there are still specific characteristics to deem it as such: large in magnitude, soundless, negligible gravity, some pockets of ultra-dense gravity, withholding entire galaxies, etc.
Therefore, the "higher power" can be an entity (characterized) and is as such (being).
Yes, it's a very impersonalist view of what the "higher power" can be.
There are more personal methods of attachment/connection to "higher power"...find your own... be blessed.

Because the mechanisms of Evolution and quantum mechanics requires a guiding Intelligence. That Intelligence does not HAVE to be good or loving.
We got lucky.
btw, several psychics have noted that the 'aether' is indeed loving and intelligent. I'm not sure if that IS God or some part or aspect or whatever of Him. But we know that SOMETHING is going on there.

Spinoza's God is a rational concept. But, why even bother using the word god. Natural reality is mysterious enough for me. Supernatural? I'm impressed enough with just natural.
