scars happen for various reasons, but not because you cut them. sometimes its just things stuck in your eye like an eyelash, other things like your cornea coming off on its own have happened. my friend, who works for the sheriffs dept had that happen one day.

On the cornea, rather than on the retina?

It sounds like a granular corneal dystrophy, but that's only an informed guess based on what you've said.

The picture below would match your description, but could be be a totally different medical problem than yours.

There are lots of different corneal dystrophies... Granular, Fuch's, Meesman's, for a few examples, with different appearances, prognoses and possibilities for treatment.

i got scarring inside my right eye,and my pupil wont ddilate anymore,as for the cornea detaching itself that happened with my left eye which was also scarred and had ulcers inside that burst and unfortunately i lost my eye. my right eyes vision is deterriorating n i have been fully blind twice very frightening experience, my eye problems started with a tiny scratch on the eyeball which rapidly got worse as i didnt seek medical help straight away but thought it wud get better itself if i dint keep rubbing my eye....how dumb is that? we dont appreciate our eyesight i dont think, its so precious its only wen its gone that we realise just how precious it is . look after ya eyes folks .
