So I had it about a year ago drinking JD. I still to this day cannot even smell it without getting sick. It used to be so bad that even if I was not drinking and smelt JD I will feel drunk and get sick. Now I just cannot drink it and get sick then feel fine right after.

I can still drink any other whiskey other then JD.

Question is, will I ever be able to drink JD again? Probably not, but why does this happen?

When I was 6, I'd been out of the country for 3 years and hadn't had an M&M in all that time. Various relatives gave me money and one day I ate M&Ms until I threw up. I can eat them now, but it took me 40 years to get used to it. I remember getting nauseated looking at something yellow once because the color reminded me of an M&M I'd seen once.

Your body is safeguarding itself. It recorded the smell, taste, and other things about that "moment" into your brain. I did the same thing with tequila shots. Almost 12 years later, I went to mexico and finally had a tequila shot without feeling that way. It was good quality tequila though. Listen to your body. Why relive bad memories?

Its a mental issue. Same thing happened to me with beer, and I had blacked out. Now I cant even smell it without feeling sick to my tummy. Your mind associates the smell with a bad experience and tries to prevent you from doing it again...hence why you get sick

I think for the most part is psychological. The first time I got drunk, I drank vodka and orange juice. And man was I was GONE. To this day I cant drink orange juice because it makes me very sick to my stomach, and I used to love it.

Haha it happens to the best of us... Its the first time you really get sick off of alcohol. You will be able to drink it again, just give it time and you might have to bite the bullet. I had the same situation with orange vodka. Now I'm back on top.

You got sick on it and have bad associations with it. Drink other whiskey then, just don't make yourself sick on it. Why would you want to go back to something that makes you feel sick when you smell it?

I had a bad case of alcohol poisoning about 7 years ago and to this day, I will not touch absolute vodka. It makes me ill to think about it.

I can drink any other kind of vodka and be ok.

I've gotten sick from plenty of other liquors, but I'll drink any of them except that one.

With me it's Southern Comfort (which is not a bourbon). Your mind and body have made this decision for you and you will very likely get ill if you attempt to revisit your Jack buzz. I would say your lucky you dont have to drink it anymore. Do you have a question about alcohol poisoning?

Perhaps it's your body's way of saying that one bad experience with it is enough. I went through the same thing with bourban. SEVERAL years ago, still can't touch the stuff. The smell still gets me sick.
