Think about it. Let's say you're the most upstanding, bible-abiding Christian around (as an example). You should have much more to worry in your life than an atheist or agnostic.

You already base your life around the idea that there is some higher power out there that judges you. And the bible is so full of holes that every Christian I have ever had a discussion with has to use the idea of faith to defend their belief in it.

Well, when all you have is faith with nothing concrete to back it up, then you have no more of a "correct" position than a Muslim, or Jew, or Hindu, or Buddhist, or Shintoist, or pastafarian (arrrr!).

So if you still cling to a belief in a Judgemental god, then how do you know that you picked the right belief system? According to your own dogma, if you're wrong, then there's something pretty crappy waiting for you. Right? Shouldn't you be pretty worried about that?

Spike... It was the same for me when I was a x-tian. We also hid it in an air of pity. As in "I feel so sorry for them because they don't know what it's like to be living a life of truth." Which translated to : Dumbass, you should be like me because the bible says so.

Well, at least you gave some thought to the question instead of reciting a rote answer your sunday school teacher told you. But you still need to consider the fact that, even if Christianity gets you in good with the other religions (which it actually doesn't, e.g. Islam...) you still need to consider which of the scores of Christian denominations is right.

Should you be dipped in water at 13, or have it sprinkled on you when you're born? Should you go to church on Sunday or Saturday? Do you have to follow the bible to the letter, or just the spirit? And on, and on, and on...

Holes? Ok, let's see...

God is onmibenevolent, but created hell as a punishment for mere unbelief.

God knows everything since forever, but you still have free will.

Jesus is God's son, but is god. So Jesus, for some reason, had to sacrifice himself to himself; acording to rules that he made up himself.

God is love. And he's Jealous. He's merciful. And he's vengeful.

God knows all. God made Lucifer. hmmmm.

I attended Christian schools my entire life. 1st grade through college. Believe me, I was taught to "read the mail."

Thankfully, I was finally able to find my Return to Sender stamp.

Hello good friend. I am glad you have asked this question, for they are enjoyable to answer. Christians, and any devout religious group will place the "plans" of their "figure" above everything they do. They try to fulfil something to which they have no understanding and continue to become more and more confused. Its alot like a monkey see monkey do sort of thing. People only follow a major religion because the first person who did succeeded in convincing another in thinking the way they do. None of this is the point and I suppose that is my bad, but I will get to it. The religious people punish themselves for making a bad choice. Why? How do they even know they did something wrong. A few words in some scriptures that come from roots so old nobody truly knows the meaning except for the mad man that made them. They worry for no reason, but yes, I suppose they do have more to worry about. Uh-oh if they do something bad...... nothing will happen. Thats it.

What drove me from present day-day Christianity used to be the truth that it in no way felt correct for me. I attempted rather difficult to consider God's presence, and to be nearly him, and it in no way labored. Then there have been a few human-similar matters that made me truthfully give up going to church. I am mostly extra of a Deist than a Theist. I do not suppose in a novel being, however that God is the sum whole of the whole lot. This helped me make experience of matters like replied prayer and 'miracles'. The proposal of entire nothingness, no soul, no long run after this incarnation, and so on is why I am no longer a whole-fledged Atheist. Though through a few Christian definitions, I am, given that I do not suppose of their form of God. I desire that is what you had been watching for. Blessings!

yes. Same God in three of them and history provides many examples as well why that God was wrong. One being when European Christians who believed in one God came to North and South America no one there had heard of God and this would indicate that their God does not exist because if God did everyone would know it without recourse to priests or a book that says God existed. Also since those who said they were in the employ of God did terrible things ostensibly wit the approval of said God then that God should lose power and descend into Hell to be confined as God is not good but since theology would let God off the hook something could be done to demonstrate how little power God has by applying legalistic rules, science, and history to prove God should be rejected. By The Geneva Conventions God is a War Criminal history backs this up. God has commited genocide and if God was a human would have been already have been found guilty of war crimes or supporting them and so would those employed but since they are unavailable God should be tried as The Church in North America cannot be tried as separation of state and church are law in The U.S. A. . Crimes are city and population destruction Soddom and Gommorah, The Crusades, The Wars Of Islamic Expansion, Slavery, condoning Rape, Hate Speech, Propaganda, Inciting Hate, Supporting Wars against those who believe different things, finally legal challenge sexism and homophobia None of these things are limited to The Bible but have things in common with the Qu'ran and the Judaic tradition .

In almost every other religion, true Christians will be safe no matter what. The only exceptions that I can think of are Muslims and Jehova's Witnesses. Mormonism, I still make it to heaven because I was good and believed in Christ, Buddist and hindu, if I don't live 100% to what they expect I get reincarnated and get another chance. Bahai, I still make it to heaven because I choose a good path and will still make it. If there is no God then just die. Now the other pagan religions, there doesnt seem to be any punishments for loving others and being good to people but I am not 100% about that. Sorry to dissapoint you but non- believers have it off worse if they are wrong.

it is all about risk analysis.

someone who does not know about risk analysis, will live happy until he gets into the situation that is a complete mess - because some of the risks will turn into issues. so, someone who have not done risk analysis is someone who is not religious.

someone who has done risk analysis once, needs to continuously monitor risks and do things according to the mitigation plan to assure that risks do not become issues.

difference between two? - you decide if you want to be surprised when you met Jesus, or if you want to hear "you risk mitigation plan worked just fine".

--------------

when you talk about holes in the Bible, could you please provide an example?...

Your words are a contradiction, because if we were wrong about God that would mean we were wrong about hell, so what crappy ending would await us, if we were wrong?

I'm Wiccan I don't believe that God and Goddess are judgemental. I believe They do want people (their children) to learn certain things before completeling their joining black to Them, and yes that is what I personally conentrate on not what spiritual path others choose. I try to guide my son spirituality in a manner that I believe is propper but I don't care what path he chooses. Yes in my opinion people should worry about their own spirituality and not that of others.

When I was a Christian, the sense I got from my own actions and other Christians around me, was that belittling someone for being of a different faith (or none at all) made them feel better, like they were "proving" their Christianity by pointing out how others are not like Christians.

I think it's interesting that when people are attacking the bible they give us general complaints like 'full of holes' which is actually saying nothing.
Where are the holes?

The answer to the question, "how can anybody understand this gibberish?" is "That's what you get for trying to read someone else's mail".
