I do lifestyle photography. Your more unposed looking ones were actaully really good. The black/whites and sepia tones were your best looking ones on most. The tinting effects are good as well. If you're that aware of photoshop techniques, you should use your levels to even out some of the others (too much red or too much green). You did well on closeups and flash management...good color on eyes and no redeye. And with kids...always get on THEIR level!

Some of the ones w/ the guy and the kids seems a bit too posed. I'm not a good one to critique these b/c I hate the posed shots. If you do want to pose, you'll find that you get better shots of them if dad will talk to them...read them a book...get their attention focused in one place so they don't look bored or completely disinterested. If you want to do the lifestyle sorts, get people doing normal, everyday things...become more a part of the background that a part of the focus for your subject. I think you'll love what you end up with!

You've got a pretty good eye. If you're in buisness, you should do fine. Keep practicing and get a few clients who like your work (helps build your portfolio and gives you experience working w/ other people's kids that you don't know as well).

OH yeah...if you want to join a photo community for free, you can post pictures to http://www.photographica.org and get critiques and comments! I enjoy going there to comment on photos and to share shots!

I agree, it is too many to do at once. So I will address some general things.

First off, you have a few that are good overall. And your connection with the children is good, you are getting some good emotion, but the technical side is weak.

You have some color balance problems. In some, the children look jaundice. Your color is all over the place. Having a calibrated work system would solve most of that problem. There are several where toes or fingers have been amputated. If it's a full length shot, don't crop a foot off. You have some harsh lighting and too much photoshop on some. A few are WAY too contrasty. In some, your background is too much in focus.

If you would post again, with a link for just 3 or 4 images that you have questions about, we might be able to help you more. Best wishes!

You've got a good collection of head shots there, but there really are too many to make any detailed comments on.

On the baby shots, you seem to be able to keep the child's attention long enough to get some interesting shots.

Some of the other protraiture are pretty standard poses, there's really not a lot you can do creatively with a head and shoulder shot.

You seem to have a good eye, but again, I would suggest you pick out what you think are your best 3 or 4 shots and post them for review.

CC its to hard to comment on a heap of shots, thats why you get "collective" comments.........."i think they look pretty good"

you dont want to hear that.........so post a link to just one image and you will get better critiques

i will say generally, the light box in the eyes dont do it for me and the exposure looks a bit suspect - or is it an "off" coloured background? - baby shots - they are "good" -very good averaged out

the outdoor snaps would look better to me if the eyes had some sparkle from some off camera flash, from the side so the shadow doesnt appear in the images, the boy sitting is fab the others lack a bit cause of the backgrounds...

a common theme i picked up is the models like you, it shows in your work - thats something cant be taught -

pick one or two images if you really want serious critique, the work is better than good generally

They're pretty good, but some are just a bit overexposed. One thing to watch out for. Using a wide-angle lens on a close portrait is too distorting. The little girl with the white shirt and angel wings looked like she had a weirdly overgrown head. Go farther back and little lower down (to a child's viewpoint) and use a more telephoto lens and they will improve greatly!

I'm not really feeling any of them. even if I did how are you supposed to know which one I'm talking about without labeling them. so on the first page eighth one down on the right is your best one. you capture an action in a unique pose, the colors are decent and its in foucs. it has diagonals which draw the eye in and has a timeless feel. all the others have very poor color, cropping, poor angles, not enough contrast or too much, no real emphasis or focal point, very amatuer looking. if you only snapped like 2 or 3 of each pose and then picked the best one, you are making a mistake. you need high volume to choose and compare and contrast each one against eachother to get a sound view on the best pic. scrap them all and start a new. read up on depth of field and cropping a composition. good lucks! yay 2points!

incredibly stable for merely 2 weeks interior the biz however the pros above have stable criticisms- the image is underexposed - decrease the shutter speed or open the aperture by employing a million/2 supply up. restoration the white stability - this replaced into shot in tungsten gentle and it shows. restoration the orange to a greater impartial tone. get the pink ingredient outta the image - cloning is your pal. interior the destiny, seem on the history greater and sweetness "Who (what) is the celeb of this image?" make that the focal element (even although no longer inevitably the middle of the shot.)

Please limit your photos for critique to 3 or 4 at a time. Looking at more than that is too time consuming plus they all tend to blur together. Pick 3 or 4 with a common theme. Then you'll get real honest critiques.
