Yes, if it's long and heavy, the weight of the hair can cause neck strain and headaches. That's why Crystal Gayle cut her ankle length hair to shorter than waist length.

Yes it can specially if you have really thick hair or tie it up all day. It's the weight of your hair that causes headaches or a ponytail pulled to tight.

Try getting your hair thinned at the hairdresser or try a new shorter style.

My Grandmother's hair was so long that she had to keep it braided to keep it from dragging the floor. She wanted to get it cut, but her husband, said NO!
So she talked to Dr. Hewes their family doctor and he agreed to cut her hair and then he called my grandfather in and told him that he had Maude's hair cut because it was giving her such fierce headaches. When in reality, my grandfather was just a pain in the behind.
So if you're looking for a good excuse to get your hair cut, here use the one my grandmother used, it's free. Be my guest.

why would it?

my hair is super duper long, almost to my butt. i dont get any more headaches than i did when I had short hair.

If you pull it back tight in a pony tail, that makes sense. but, you can do that with short hair too.
