You can go to the 1st website below for all passport info. You can print out the forms and get the list of all documents you need so that you can make one trip to the post office instead of two. If your cruise begins and ends in the U.S., and you are going before June, 2008, a passport is not required by law. See 2nd website below and read the first and fifth paragraphs. Some cruise lines still want their passengers to have passports, some do not...so ASK them.

Go to the main branch of the post office in your city. They have a passport office.
