There is scientific proof that a woman's egg can somehow empregnate itself ( I don't know all the details of it but science is working on it). Scientists believe that in a few years they women will no longer have to have a man to have a baby. Can it be possible that this has already happened once to Mary? That God had nothing to do with it? What are your thoughts? Please don't list tons of scripture either! **hugs** I already know the bible. I'm just "saying".....

Possibly. But I wouldn't say that eliminates the existence of God. For instance I heard one person say that scientifically what happened at the Red Sea when Moses crossed it was two tsunami waves in opposite directions, because when a tsunami happens the sea recedes a little and if two happened in opposite directions, a path may have opened. While this may technically be a scientific explanation, the timing of it is just too good to be coincidence, it must be Providence.

One cannot have a fertilised egg with 23xx and 23xy chromosomes without the y! There is no explanation for the virgin birth or for most of the other parables and myths in the bible because they could not and did not happen.

If I told you any of the stories that they described happened today, you would know I was deluded, so what is the difference now that makes you believe that the natural law of the universe was suspended 2000 years ago?

All I can say is. The Bible is the Infallible word of God. That is enough for me. Just pray sincerely and God will reveal it to you. Also, remember, it is man who is trying to clone humans and all sorts of other ungodly things, Just because we "can" do something doesn't mean we should.Jesus Christ,God manifested in the flesh. Our blessed God and Saviour was indeed born of a virgin. You may be right man may pull that off some day. I'm not sure how or why. But I do know it's against God and nature.

While watching the Discovery channel, I learned science has recently found a lizard that gives birth with no fertilization from the opposite sex. It sounds incredible. What this might have to do with humans is complete speculation. Humans are in the process of experimenting with fantastic things that God only knows what will happen for sure. No scriptures here, but if God created us in his image, nothing would be impossable when we reach our full potential.

Personally I have not heard of any other way of such a thing other then the few species of animals in the world that are all girls...and give birth to daughters that are genetic clones of themselves.

With the discoveries of cloning, it would be possible... though I doubt any woman could magically do it on their own, we just aren't that kind of species.

I'm thinking the truth is one of the follow...
* Made up story that didn't happen
* Virgin meant more then what we think of today
* Or she was in truth no virgin...

I've never heard of this, but it sounds like it would be pretty darn rare, if it's true at all.

The simplest explanation is that Mary was impregnated in the normal fashion (that is to say, by a mere mortal, be it Joseph or whoever) and man's propensity for myth-making took over from there...

if it did, than that means the bible is fake, and it wouldnt matter if she could empregnate herself! You are basicly saying "if god didnt exist" not a good thing for christians to think about!

virginity for the mother of the messiah is not required, nor is there any independent statement that Mary was a virgin. However, it does tie in nicely with many pagan accounts of the birth of deities.

ahha actually there is scientific proof, and it has happened, but it was a lizard.
it was never exposed to a male, but it had babies
the babies were exact clones of itself.

weird huh?

but no accounts of human happenings lol
