I have a big german shepard mix who barks non stop at everything. He has a terrible loud bark that sounds like a mix between someone screaming and a bloodhound bark. I tried 2 brands of bark collars, they both work well but not on him. I evern tried putting 2 bark collars on him and it did not affect him at all. I dont want to get him debarked, i dont think that is the right thing to do, but i guesss i might have to if i cant get it under control. does anyone have ideas about what i can do??? thanks!!!!!!!!!

He is neutered and I tryed 2 muzzles but all night he scractches it and bites it until it breaks. Ive taken him to obidence and had a trainer come out but he just wont calm down and stop barking. My vet gave him sedation pills why he was being boarded because he was barking non stop, and the sedation pills did not even effect him! Now they said he cant even be boarded anymore because of his barking. :(

spend time with your dog ...same amount of time each day like after tea or something .....spend an hour out side with your dog and in that hour everytime it barks change its direction of interest say here boy and through a ball and when it brings it back say sit and when it sits say good sit...never say its name when you want to train a dog...say good what ever its doing at the time .hope this helps

Debarking is not a bad thing. It can be done by going down the throat and cutting the vocal cords or through the neck to the vocal cords. Before everyone goes crazy saying this is cruel, you need to know that the dogs will continue to "bark" his head off, but not make any noise. The hoarseness comes in when the vocal cords grow back together partially. It is better to take a bigger piece of the cords out the 1st time to ensure that this cant happen. Then the dog is no longer being corrected all the time, your ear drums aren't going nuts, and the neighbors dont complain. I have debarked 5 dogs in the last 25 years that had awful ear piercing barks and they have been much happier for it. Talk to your vet about it. He\she may not do the procedure, but they will probably know someone who does.
This is not necessarily the 1st choice, but it sounds like you have tried everything else short of getting rid of the dog
Good luck.

Hi, I understand that you are looking for some advice or resources to help fully train your dog or fix behavior problems. If a professional dog trainer is not an option at this time, or if you want to trt training your dog on your own (a great way to bond), I'd suggest you https://tr.im/liHoN
A friend recommened it to me a few years ago, and I was amazed how quickly it worked, which is why I recommend it to others. The dog training academy also has as an excellent home training course.

Is he bored? Is he getting enough exercise? Enough positive attention?
I'd start with an obedience class and more exercise.
I had a neighbor once who's dogs barked non-stop (left outside, ignored, bored out of their poor little minds) so she had them de-barked. They still barked, they were still noisy - they just sounded hoarse. I'm sure you can find a better solution for your dog!

maybe you should try asking for professional help now. They know what they should do with your dog. Especially those dog trainers that specializes with dog barks or dog behavior training.
Before i just let my dogs bark all day long until one of our neighbors told us that it's already annoying that's the time i decided to buy bark collars, i bought ours at americaoutdoor.com, and i started using it... Now im still using it with my new dog miki and very satisfied with the results.

Classes are ideal, and run cheaper than buying a bunch of bark collars. You could also start keeping him in a crate, cover him when he is noisy and barking and let him out ONLY when he is quiet.

Is he fixed? If not that could be part of the problem because he will be able to tell if there are any females dogs around that are in heat. Snip, Snip, ouch!

Unfortunately, a muzzle might be your only real option, and hopefully he learns that when he barks, it goes on, when he doesn't it stays off...
