It would seem to me that a forum called Religion and Spirituality would be a little more tolerant, accepting, and loving than what is on display. Is it irrational to expect peace and harmony from people who are obviously irrational?

Bwahahaha...for a minute there I thought I read you as saying you expected people in the religious category to be tolerant, accepting and loving. Couldn't have been, though...

Religion isn't about love and tolerance and acceptance. It's about how My God Can Beat Up Your God (or Science, if you're talking to an atheist).

Well, first, if it was irrational to expect peace and harmony from irrational people, who's to say that they would not simply be irrational and show peace and harmony?

In any case, no one is entirely rational nor entirely irrational. If you have any personal beliefs what-so-ever, then the odds are you are bias towards said beliefs and therefore will speak irrationally on subjects of contesting beliefs. To even say that you are rational could be looked at as either irrational or simply ignorant. If we were all rational all the time, it would be a boring world. If you ask a serious question, odds are you will find a serious answer, if you ask a foolish question, expect a foolish answer, and if you ask a rhetorical question, expect an answer you don't want to hear.

P.S. - When expecting peace, love, and harmony, be more specific, spiritualists, as a general rule of thumb, embrace those things, however religions are usually as the others here have already described.

You are not the only rational person here. However, that does not guarantee that there maybe some irrational people here as well.

It is irrational to expect peace and harmony from the members of this forum, when you do not know the rationality of all of the participants.

After a while you'll learn that this is what R&S is all about: a bunch of irrational people quarreling whose irrationality is better than the others.

As of the love and peace: majority of people here are for some reason convinced that only people of their OWN specific branch of irrationality deserve the love and peace, all the others are going to be ridiculed and cast in the lake of fire.

i might say, customarily words, "rational" people and "logical" people are one interior the comparable. besides the undeniable fact that, to look at this slightly closer, you should locate that a logical person has an extremely scientific, based upon fact, view on the international while a rational person is by employing definition very lifelike and in a position to work out the two the logical and emotional sides of a topic and locate the terrific combination of the two.

Yes….no…maybe…what? I just had this thought, if you are being irrational by expecting peace and harmony form the irrational, then the answer is that you are not the only rational one here because you are being irrational. But do not pay any attention to me, it is hard to be rational when the wind is north-north-east.

You thought an internet forum about religion would be tolerant? Look at history, and you'll see a microcosm in here! Tolerance is not common among humans. Expect nothing, and you'll never be let down. That said, enjoy the circus!

Why is it that when a Christian defends their belief it is called irrational, brainless, brainwashed?
But when some atheists defend themselves it is called rational, tolerant, and intelligent.
And for the record, again, this is not a forum. Yahoo does have a forum if that is what you want.
It is a Question and Answer site. A site for asking legitimate questions and getting them answered, legitimately.
