Can use ice on the burn initially, then get some over the counter steroid cream, or call your doctor and ask for a high dose steroid cream or silvadene cream to put on the burn.
Most chemo burns are not 3rd degree, but are 1st or 2nd degree. Treat the burn the way you would normally treat a burn. Ice packs, 4x4's that are non-stick bandages, and keep it covered. Rinse often with lukewarm water, perhaps 3 x per day. check out burn care at home on google.

I am assuming the chemo was given IV? If he will be recieving chemo IV for a while, you may want to ask your doctor about placement of a central line or port. It is like a big IV that is placed into one of the large arteries of the chest. When chemo is given into a larger artery, it is not as damaging to the tissue because it is diluted in a larger amount of blood right away. When given in the hand or arm IV it can cause a burn.

Well I am about to start chemo but they are putting a port in my chest in a week or two. This is for the purpose of avoiding burns such as this plus damage to veins plus it is not painful that way-no IV's

only thing come to my mine is to use two things
first the Aloe Vera plant leaf directly on the burn skin. And repeat
You also need to take ezymes interally. to help heal from inside.

could i ask what is the name of the chemo medication he is taking? usually we have samples of biafine cream that is used for burns...ask your oncologist for samples or a prescription
