We have 3 computers at home but my sisters and i sometimes listen to the same kind of music. I hate having to download things when i know that she already has the song on her computer. Since we have dsl, is there any program that downloads to all computers using the same isp adress?

this is a fairly pointless thing to do. it will fill up all the harddrives, make multiple versions, all that stuff. if you want to access files from all your computers you should get a home server and network them all together. then you would have one copy and would be able to acess it from all computers, and you could also access other non-downloaded files. otherwise there isn't really a way that I know of that you could do it without networking the pcs, in which case the first solution would be better, aside from some bubblegum&ducttape piggyback type thing.

oh, and btw, a home server doesn't necessarily mean you need a new piece of hardware. you could use any of the pcs you already have. i'm sure it wouldn't be too hard with LAMP. you know some sort of proxy server type thing.

Not that I am aware of, but if you have a USB back-up hard drive you should fairly easily be able to download the music onto the drive and then copy only what you like onto each of your computers. If you are on a network, you can also use iTunes and "share" your collections with each other with no problems. You can share with up to 5 other computers/devices. Just some thoughts.

Sure, if you have the same ISP, then you share a hub and if you are using XP or MAC then it is simple to set up a peer to peer network and just download to Shared Files in My Network places and the others can get at it.

surely, i rather do no longer think of technologies has made song greater impersonal. there'll continuously be a pick team of folk who will continuously decide to purchase the actual CD and, in specific circumstances, people who nonetheless decide to purchase the actual vinyl (specifically creditors for that those days). i comprehend that i might plenty quite by employing a CD than an MP3. in fact, the sixty 9 albums on my iPod are albums I rather have on CD. I rather have over two hundred, yet i'm no longer able to place all of them on my iPod because of the fact i'm no longer able to apply iTunes on my abode pc. sometime, i'm going to have all of them on my iPod! of course, I nonetheless like the packaging of a CD. I advise, i like having each and all of the lining notes and the full packaging. Plus, if some thing exceeded off to my iTunes library, i ought to continuously replace them with out paying to get each thing back.

You can try downloading them onto a network drive which then distributes it to any computer connected to it. You need some extra hardware though and its not that cheap.
