It can work. We have two neutered boys and they get along fine. It's mainly an issue of temperment. If you've got two alpha wanna-bes they're going to be prone to fighting regardless of sex. Intact boys are going to much more prone to fighting with each other, especially if they detect a female in heat.

I am not convinced that either sex is worse to get along with. I think it depends on the individual dog and who trains it. I have five girls and two boys in my house right now. There are NO fights, NO food aggression, and NO marking. It is not tolerated in my home. My dogs all get along very well, and have a close-knit pack environment. My oldest is 10 and my youngest is 1. They are four different breeds.
The expectations and rules were set a long time ago, and any new member of the pack is quickly taught the proper behavior by the other pack members.

You should not have two intact males in the same house. Girls, whether intact or spayed, have more of a tendancy to fight. Nuetered boys are great together. They are usually more even tempered. Girls tend to get snarky and like to pierce each other's ears. It's best if you have a boy and a girl, who are both fixed, together. My family has 4 nuetered males and 2 females. If you are going to have girls, it's best to do different breeds. My Border Collie female was rehomed to me because she did not get along with the other female Border Collie. She is fine with the female Jack Russell that we own. It also has to do with the breed and how dominat the dog is.

Years ago, I had three females and two males. They got along just fine. I did not have dog fights or anything. They actually watched out for each other!
At the moment, I have two females and they get along just fine. No fights no growling, nothing.
It is all in how a person teaches their animals and how socialized the dogs are.

I've had both. I have two males now, (one neutered) they play and have a great time together. I've had two females in the past and it wasn't so good. Lots of jealousy there. All were pound dogs but young at adoption (under one year) Just try to stay away from Alpha males.

One of my really good friends she has 2 males and 2 females and the only thing about that is that females seem to get serious PMS and they like to go at eachother sometimes i swear they are worse than humans(females are). The 2 males they dont seem to do much to eachother. Well thats my advice its ok but females can be little witches

ive had both 2 male together and 2 female together... occasionally they will have little fights but nothing serious... depends on if you got them at the same time or if one is older and one is a pup? they can do fine with good training... some dog breeds dont get along naturally.. so depending on what breed you have i wouldnt leave them alone in the house together...

Not really - most get along fine but there is a higer chance of a fight for (in order and opposed to mixing sexes):
uneutered males
neutered females
uneutered females
neutered males

Dogs of the same sex can have a tendency to fight. Odds are better that a male/female combo will do better, but if you know what you are doing and train them correctly, any combination will do fine.

I have four dogs: Two male and two female, all spayed/neutered. Two are great danes, and two are small dogs. All four of my dogs get along fine -- proper training and socialization has allowed them to live together peacefully.
