That is correct. If you buy heartworm prevention or any other drug over the internet it is not guaranteed, therefore if your dog comes up with heartworms while on these meds then the treatment will come out of your pocket. Only if these drugs are purchased by and under the supervision of a veterinarian that the guarantee is upheld. This is because the drug companies have no idea who works at petmeds and other companies, so they may not be stored or delivered properly. Drug companies will only trust "professionals" AKA your local vet. So, although you can get your drugs cheaper and sent to your door, it may end up being cheaper if you buy them at your vet and dont have to pay 5-600 dollars if your pet comes up with heartworms.

There are alot of counterfeit medications out there. Even buying the lea medications from Pet Stores isn't even guaranteed. The company only guarantees their product that is sold to authorized resellers which are mostly vets. Hair care products do the same thing. If you find the same brand shampoo at a Target as at your hairdresser and you have problems with it the company will only honor a guarantee if you bought it at a hair salon.

Yes it is very true..the drug companies that make those products wil lnot guarantee the products if you don't get them from a licensed vet...in otherwords if you buy Heartguard online and your dog gets heartworms...you're on your own, however if you buy it from a licensed vet and your dog gets heartworm then the company will pay for all medical treatment involved with the heartworm.

Also be advised that the drug companies that make Heartguard or Advantage only sell to a licensed vet.

get them from the vet. the companies only help you if you purchase thier product from a "licensed veterinarian" -
those websites are not. I work in a vet hospital and a client of ours was faithful on revolution, but made her last few purchases online. her dog became heartworm positive. Revolution would not help her bcause she did not purchase from the vets office.

Your vet is playing you! I got my Heart Guard and Advantage from petmeds and ended up paying 1/2 of what the vet charged to buy from his office! She is just concerned about lost revenue.

yes, but I have heard PetMeds is not as good. I heard they sell outdated meds. Not sure if it's true or not.
