NOPE!!!
open roads i'll get a case of lead foot sure... anything over 100 & i get nervous & my heart starts to beat like a drum so i'll have to slow it down a little.... hee hee!
But i am guilty of road rage.... get in my way, cut me off, drive like a yahoo & look out.... i can snap like a slim jim in a sumo wrestlers mouth!!!
i have much respect for those guys they are out there at insainly high speeds with drivers all around them & they drive it like the pro's they are...
So i'll leave the racing to the pro's they know how to do it to it!!!
GO HARVICK &RCR!!!

I drive a sportsman class stock car on 1/2 mile and 3/8 mile high banked ovals In Kentucky and use to drive an ASA camaro back in the late 70s and early 80s at IRP now known as Oriellys where the run the Busch Races a 5/8 mile asphalt oval-- The Craftsman trucks run there also. I was a local driver --But I have raced against these Nascar or retired Nascar drivers there when they were making the loop from Illinois--Michigan--Ohio- to come when we had the $5000.00 to win events. I qualified 32nd 1 time and 29th ! time. I raced against Mark Martin-Dick Trickle-Ernie Irvan and Rusty Wallace. I was small time and not able to travel the loop. In those 2 races I would hit the start finish line and they would already be inbetween turns 1 and 2. After the 18th lap or so I would see them again as they lapped me.!!!! But with the right equipment I think I could hold my own at the small tracks--Bristol-Richmond --Martinsville--Phoenix--Dover--The Road courses I would be lost---The 1.5 mile tracks and bigger-- Probably not.be competitive. I still racemy car will run an average of about 112.00mph on the 1/2 mile dirt and 105.00 on the 3/8 mile dirt ovals here in Kentucky--Not a far stretch from some of the Nascar pole time for the short tracks which 128.00mph-145.00mph will get some poles. I think I could make a race on time and not finish 43rd!!

If I was a NEXTEL cup race car driver I would've driven about the same way Kyle Busch does. That question sounds like a spinoff of "so you think you can dance"

Nah. Just like in all professional sports these guys are the best of the best. Those drivers that are always in the bottom 20 were always champs in their local circuits. Try driving you car around curves at 180 mph. Now try the same thing with 42 other cars on the same road.

I drove local dirt tracks and as hundreds of other short track drivers dreamed of running cup.But after 2 years of footing my own bills I folded my team. But I did get a chance to drive on the high banks at Talladega as I took one of the driving schools. There is a rush the first time you realize you are going 175 mph plus.
So if I were 30 years younger I would jump at the chance to drive a cup car.

I'm not sure. I think alot of it depends on who you have backing you. David Starr who races in the truck series ran at our local track here and he was FAR from the most talented driver out there but he does okay in the truck series.

No Way, you guys think JPM has no patience, I'm out here in Calif, I have a major case of road rage, you would not want me out there.. NO way....Every driver is safer without me believe me...I have done the Richard Petty driving experience, done it twice they tell me I'd be great...If only they knew...I have great respect for the drivers out there, they are great...Nope its not for me....I'd rather cheer in the stands or infield or at home...

sure can, i raced professional AMA super bikes, more exciting than stock car racing, we turn both ways left and right, so whats the big deal about going around in circles with cars with roll bars and padded seats?
