Yeah! I have twin sons who are nine and they've been at it for a year now. One washes the other dries and they both fold. The pride and responsibility they feel for their work carries over into their schoolwork too. Also, they mow the lawn and wash the cars...all voluntarily. I just wanted them to learn to do laundry so they'd know there was no such thing as "women's work"--I want them to be as independent as they can be for when they are grown. (or heaven forbid if something should happen to me or my husband before then).
We made a game out of it all and they never saw it as training.

I think it's a great idea! After all, he would have to do his own laundry when he leaves home. Is he just washing and drying the laundry or ironing it as well?Make you keep on eye on him with the iron. My 12 year moans if I ask him to vacuum the floor!

Yes. It is absolutely fine for him to start learning how to do laundry. I am just curious why you use the word "train". I would have said "teach" but that is me. Kids have to learn how to do things on their own and not be dependent on their parents all their lives. Right on sister, teach him how to do laundry.:-)

Is this a serious question? Would you prefer that your adult son throw his clothes away and buy new ones after each wearing? How is he going to learn if nobody teaches him? If he's old enough not to drink the detergent, he's old enough to do laundry!

Yes, Definitely. He should be able to do his own laundry on Weekends. I mean during the week it may be a bit too much, but definitely on weekends. (STAR)

Yes- The more responsiblity they have the more responsible they will become. Boys need to learn to do things themselves without a woman doing those types of things for them. Teach him how to cook as well.
