I'm learning when I recognize the anxiety coming on to calm my self down and just try to relax by breathing and rationalizing the situation. Little by little I go.

No way to treat it? Yes, and some people do go into remission which can go as far as to never needing medication again or for a long time. What matters here is that as you know the symptoms you would be able to go straight back on to the drugs and perhaps achieve another "drug holiday" for perhaps a long, long time. You don't say however whether it is acute or chronic so the outcome would be different, ie - chronic is life time, acute would not. Like someone said, relatively safe anti-depressants of the SSRI class are effective at combating anxiety. You need professional help as in not just a Doc as they know Jack about mental concerns but a mental health pro. You may only need to adopt a certain new lifestyle including certain exercises prescribed and have no need for meds. I psycotherapist may be a good option before hitting up the Pdoc though your Doc will have a better idea. If you don't trust them get a 2nd or even a 3rd opinion. In the mean time AVOID anny illicit drugs which can include drugs like Drink which are powerful on the mind in the mood process.

I'm not totally and probably never will be.
It flares up every so often. And I'm 47.
I usually end up laughing at myself after words though.
The methods depend on the type of anxiety.

My anxiety is related to my Asperger's so no I won't be totally cured of it but you learn to cope with it with time.

I don't think it can ever be cured.
There is always something in life that will trigger it off.
Blame society for that.
