In some Judaic apocrypha it is a flying serpent like Quetzalcoatl. In that case it would be an even greater fall for the serpent.

The Hebrew word translated into English as "serpent" is nâchâsh. It comes from a primitive root; properly, to hiss, i.e. whisper a (magic) spell; generally, to prognosticate:--X certainly, divine, enchanter, (use) X enchantment.

The Samaritan copy, instead of nachash, “a serpent,” reads cachash, “a liar or deceiver,”

So it wasn't an actual snake, but Satan as we see confirmed in later texts.

Revelation 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

As soon as you get this one answered correctly please refer the person to me.

He would probably know where in the bible do they mention the specifics of Dinosaurs and how people in such times dealt with them.

And about Itchianna's comment on the point of asking questions you know are unanswerable-

Yes, some things are for now unanswerable like (for example)cures for certain diseases or the possibility of extraterrestrial life. Us "Non Christians" are willing to question every little trivial thing because only by scrutinous observation will we be able to find answers ...whatever they turn out to be.

We do not find it comfortable to annihilate our natural curiosity by giving into the myths of thousand year old archaic superstitions.

And yeah rest assured we are well informed on how strong your faith is and that is precisely what we find so alarming.

No one knows for sure, and it should not matter. He is a bit player and is not the point of the story. The serpent could have been anything.

Non Christians: What is the point of asking questions you know are unanswerable, do you really think a few words on a computer screen will shake the foundation of my beliefs. We as Christians take our faith much more seriously.
