What many of the posts here seem to ignore is that faith does nothing to answer opposing belief systems equally based on faith. With personal beliefs in 2,000+ gods and no evidence for any of them, faith becomes a shot in the dark, as meaningless as a random hypothesis.

The Islamic man believes with all the faith in his brain that Allah is the one true god and Muhammad is his prophet. He is just as likely to be correct as polytheistic Hinduism, Theravada Buddhism, Biblical fundamentalism, or those guys who visit Roswell and think space aliens put life on this planet. Or all of them could be incorrect.

Faith is a good feeling. It's so central to the feelings of some religious groups that people feel threatened if you question their reasoning for certain beliefs. But faith should not be used to make determinations about the real world. It's a disgrace to reason, a joke to inquiry.

First of all, there is no such thing as "a deity thing". All Deity (yes, capital 'D') has personality: that is, Deity is personal. There is no such thing as deity without being personal, having mind and the ability to choose - therefore it does not compute that "deity be a thing"... it can not. "It" has to be a Who.

Second of all, Deity expects all other personalities, even the lowliest like you and me, mortal human beings to have faith enough in our own brains and minds to realize that there are personalities we can not see, feel and touch with the human body and its parts. We know for a fact that there are many things beyond the scope of human vision, human hearing and human physical feeling. We know we can not explain love, or the fact there are atoms without mechanical assistance. We can not see into the universe without telescopes and other sensitive equipment. We also know the more we know the more we have to question. (quest-ion)

Quest, ion. Look these words up.

It is faith that has carried the human race ever forward into the unknown... from having to deal with disease and famines, to searching space the not so final frontier.

Why in the world would a creative or creator personality make faith unnecessary? Without faith people would NEVER search for new things!
