Recently a Dutch bishop said that Christians should start to refer to God as "Allah" to ease tensions with Muslims. I'm inclined to agree. Christians have demonized and oppressed Muslims for hundreds of years and it's about time we start to make ammends. Besides, does it really matter what we call our God? It's not like any Christians refer to him by his real name, Yahweh (or Jehovah). I agree that "Allah" is "a beautiful name" to call our God and I think we should move towards refering to him as such if it will allow us to move closer in spirituality and friendship with our Islamic brothers.

i don't think God would mind - God is pretty beautiful like that -just keeps on Lovin' & Lovin'...

i'll happily refer to God as Allah or any of His many names if it allows me to peacefully dance with one of my brothers &/or sisters - that's how my God would have it

i say : be free, be fearless, be Love - do this for God

Forget names & books & differences - its just blah blah to God

Just love & live & give
Love to u all

I presume that Arab Christians call the Biblical God, Allah. But purely as an Arab name for God in their language, not referring in any way to the Islamic Allah. The problem is that the Allah of the Muslims is not the God of the Bible. Just read both books and you will notice the differences. There are irreconcilable differences between them.

Oppression and demonizing is not a one way street, both have done that since both met each other in history. I don't think Muslims would like the idea either of calling Allah, God, Dios or Deus.

I don't know which Muslims or Christians you have been talking to, but those I know don't say those things are the will of God, or condemn the sufferers as terrible sinners, or that they're lacking faith. That's the line the Jewish rulers of Jesus' day were saying, and he openly rebuked them. On the contrary, all the things you mentioned are the result of sin, brought about the devil. He's too much of a coward to own up to his deeds, so he influences people to blame God. If it weren't for the restraining hand of God still upon this world because his people live here, what you see now would be paradise compared to what the devil would make this world if he was in total control. God is anything but weak. He has to let the devil run his program so that we can see for ourselves what the devil's all about. See and have nothing to do with it, but if we still choose the devil's way after the demonstrations he's putting on as you outlined so well, we have only ourselves to blame if we are destroyed together with the devil and his angels some day soon. No one is going to call God "weak" then.....you'll be crying for the rocks and mountains to hide you from his wrath.

Absolutely not. Allah and Jehovah are not the same God. I recently heard a converted Islamic scholar on The White Horse Inn (it's online) who tells all about what Islam believes. He stated that in the Quran, Allah says that Jesus is not his son, and that anyone who confesses such is an infidel and deserves to die. Does that sound like our God? Allah is a false god. I would be very afraid to call our God Allah. We might as well start calling Him Buddah, or Baal. Beautiful or not, if you do some studying about what Islam really believes, you will find that Allah is nothing like the God of the Bible. Our God does not promote killing people in His name, like Allah does. Our God does not force people to convert at the point of a sword. Our God does not force women to submit the way they are forced to submit in many Arab nations. The Muslims are not our brothers. They are only related through Abraham to the Jews.

Far from it. The God presumed to be Allah and the God presumed to be the God of Jesus are not the same. In Islam it is an abomination to believe Jesus is the Son of God or is God in the flesh and yet Jesus name meant God with us. Oddly enough in the Koran they got it all mixed up and presume that Jesus said He and his mother Were God and in their play theme Allah says to Jesus did you say this. And Jesus admits to saying his mother was God which is strange. In the bible recorded within about 70 years after Jesus death Jesus is recorded saying numerous times "I am." the name for God and the Jews were about to stone him but it wasn't his time. and in the Koran which was recorded 700 years after Jesus death they have a totally different character for Jesus. Jesus words in the bible I feel are much more historically accurate.

To the Muslims you can not be a Christian and a Muslim. because you can not be Muslim if you think Jesus is God but if you believe the bible at all then you must believer Jesus is God. First John is about Jesus who was the word and the light of men and became flesh.

Seems Dom Dom Damdom confirms that they are not compatible.

Goldie Feather the problem is they would not love you for who you are as you are. Infidels are to be treated as servants and looked down upon. This lack of love and acceptance is the problem.

Jesus asks us to share with people his love and our experiences with him that they might want to come to know him but they are not to be looked down upon (dhimmitude or dhimitude) (look it up on wikipedia or yahoo to better understand what people will face if they do not convert to islamism.) Christians are to love (thought not everyone seems to know how to do this) those who persecute them so you see the difference here.

Not a chance this Jew will refer to God as Allah. If Muslim want to refer to God as Hashem they are more than welcome.
You give these people an inch and they will take a mile. This PC stuff is for the birds.
Muslims can call God Allah if they choose. That is their right but it is my right to refuse.

Almost all Arabian Christians call God "Allah" because Allah simply means "God" in arabic. It is as simple as that. I agree with your statement because we Muslims call Allah "God" as well. It is just another name for God in another language.

I think you should do some research on " the moon god" and where the word " allah" comes from.

The ONLY way islam AND ANY OTHER religion can exist "peacefully" is for ALL others to a)convert to islam b)pay taxes(be a servant to)to islam or c)DIE..this is a FACT!

Never compromise truth for peace.
Allah is NOT God.
It is obvious that you have no historical or Biblical knowledge on any of this. There are many names of God, mostly Jehovah, or YHWH (Yahweh). This is just a start. But Allah is not one of them.
